i joined this group as a newcomer to nyc who was failing to bond with the fashionistas and desk jockeys at work, and i am so, so glad that i did. every friend i've made in the past year and a half has been a beautiful bad egg.
my heart says socialist, but my head says people will never choose to share equally with more than thirty individuals for long, so they've jointly settled into a far-left democratic stance. we all *heart* public resources, and therefore taxes.
NY Times online, BBC.com, and npr.org for news; McSweeneys.com for relief from the condescending prattling of the genius monkeys; and devotedbee.com for inner peace. do i get to take my library card to the island? because i'd hit up NYPL like mad.
um, not many, aside from the ones i was editing . . . but i read every page of every issue of "The New Yorker" (except for pieces written by nancy franklin). books are often difficult to read one-handed on the subway, and that's how i tend to read.

it's a tie for first between copyediting (yes, i am that dorky) and my cat's tiny feet (i bet you thought no one was that dorky). i'm also militantly pro[en dash]environmental conservation. i'll unplug things when they're off, in my home and yours.
