Hi Charles,

Thank you for the feedback. We'll take your suggestion into consideration. I am sorry that your have to wait for 45 mins. I wish you came to me last Saturday to ask for court arrangement.

In regards to court availability, one thing I can guarantee you, there will be at least 2 courts open for open play while training is in session. As I mentioned in the previous email, the tag board wasn't used for open play when training was in session so there is no rotation on open play court. Another possibility, Joel and I didn't announce that court 1 and 2 are available for open play so people didn;t know.

It will take a couple of iterations to make this efficient. I am very sure within the next 2 weeks it will get much better. As usual there always things that we forget to account for.

Udi, and all organizers,

Thanks for all your work so we can have a badminton place to gather, play and have fun.  I have just one suggestion:  Clearly communicate each event with specifics so as to set expectation.

Here is an example idea:
Prior to noon on Saturday (or on Friday), send out email and/or post on Meetup (a great centralized go-to bulletin) with schedule and (estimated) open courts for that day.  So people can arrange time to go play or get training accordingly.

Last Saturday I arrived S2S at 6:45 (as I thought training will be over at 7) so I waited 45 minutes.  Going forward, for me I would postpone my arrival if I can't predict availability prior to 7:30, though.

All is well so appreciate your clarification.  Have a great day!

Charles

Umesh,
Thank your feedback. Just FYI there were 18 people in the training program and 8 people are waiting for open play and another 8 playing.  There were 2 courts available and it should be enough to accommodate open play for 16 people. The mistake was the tag board was not used for open play during that time so there is no rotation. We'll keep an eye on this so tag board will be used for open play next time. The number of people waiting for courts grows only after 7:15 or so. We are pretty much at the tail end of the program.

We will off course adjust the number of courts for training depending on how many people shows up for the training program. We will adjust the court availability between open play and training as the situation arise. With 18 people shows up, we will need to use at least 3 courts.

Josie,
We appreciate your feedback. I am not sure what has been agreed on but the information about the new S2S fees, schedule and the program has been communicated before the end of last year. So $8 admission fee shouldn't be a surprise. There is $25/mo membership if one is interested to join. That should put your cost back to what it was before if not cheaper. It will take couple of iteration before a pattern firmly will develop.

In the spirit of NOT creating another argument. I will not going to respond to your last email.

Others,
Feel free to reach out to me, Joel, Bernard and Jane if you have any question about the scheduling and program.

There will be mistake that we made along the way and we are sorry about that and we will do the best we can to make it better. However, the training is provided as a benefit for anyone who become a member of S2S. So far we are very excited with number of people interested to the program and hopefully we can help improve everyone badminton skill. We are hoping when the next local tournament is available, we will have more local people competing in it.

Is this program perfect? Will everybody happy with this arrangement? I am very sure the answer is NO. I am also very sure the answer will always be NO. Some will value this program and some doesn't. One thing I can say, we are committed to provide this program year around as we believe it is the only effective way to get better. We will also try to accommodate everyone aspiration to play badminton.

Feel free to visit www.trianglebadminton.com for further information about the program and schedule.

Best Regards,

Thanks for the clarification. It will be nice if we can get our trainers on board with max 2 courts for training sessions rule if the players r available for open play - last Saturday there were 3 courts taken for training session while open play players waited for the court, interestingly only the walls were in use for practice and Nets/court was a wasted space.
A better utilization of space during training will open up courts for OpenPlay if players r available.

My 2 cents. thanks , Umesh

Due to the training sessions using up some of our Saturday open play time, please note that NCBC was able to garner more hours this month and hopefully during the remaining training period. Open play will be from 4:30-10pm this Saturday 1/19 and 5-10 pm the following Sat. 1/26. Also, please note that 2 courts will be used for training purposes during the first 2 hours. Any questions...let me know :-)
