Monthly Meetup

We'll be eating pizza, drinking beer and soda, and talking python. There is no topic schedule for this month. If you don't want to listen to the organizer give a dry presentation about something obscure then you should suggest a topic and give a presentation.

Has anyone presented on packaging? I could give an overview of the more-or-less established arrangement of source code in a package that can be hosted in a repository and installed with setuptools or pip. It's simpler to do than one would think.

This would be great. Also, if you could go other the difference between easy_install and pip that would be helpful.

Hey Everyone, it looks like we'll have a small group this month so let's endeavor to check out something new. Does anyone have a package or topic they would like to dig into? There are a few topics on the discussion board or we could come up with something new.

Personally, I was interested in using python with Amazon's data pipeline.

Just to get discussion going I got some basic multiprocessing (w/o messaging) working last week, it's only a few lines but I could show it. Also, I could talk about decorators a little, I use them to wrap logging into my main modules. Or I could show one of my science pipelines if anyone wants to see some astronomy images (lots of PIL, numpy, matplotlib, SQLAlchemy and a little scrapping). Just putting some ideas out there; I presented last week so I'm happy to just eat pizza this week.
