Tokyo Shock at Club Orpheus

  • March 26, 2011 · 10:00 PM

It's kind of a gothy J-pop thing this time, with a group called "Rose Noire" performing. Details on facebook.

Because there are so few going, I will be going directly to the club, rather than doing the dinner thing.

The J-Pop/Rock scene at Orpheus definitely hasn't suffered with the departure of Pop Show Japan; if anything, it's improved. The crowd was large, the dance floor was continually full. The music had a lot more electronic than pop feel than usual, likely due to the goth aesthetic they were going for this time... but the choices were excellent, and the music flowed very well. And Rose Noir was something else. A guy singer and a an extraordinarily beautiful girl on violin, they didn't miss a beat, she didn't miss a note (I was listening with my "musician's ear"), and they had really good stage presence. All in all, a good scene. Too bad y'all missed it. ;)

People are welcome to just come to dinner and chat it up, if they aren't down with going to the club...
