Otakon Friday Diner - Harborplace

UPDATE: Location has changed. I have changed it to the Food Court at Harbor Place - Light Street Pavilion.

They have a large Food Court in the center.

There is a walkway over the road to this location on the top floor of the convention center (Light Street - look at Google maps and you can see it). Or see BCC Level 200 on the Otakon Map.

OLD MESSAGE:

For Friday, I am setting up a meeting at the Lobby of the Hilton which is next to some cheap meal places. The time is approximiate, and I'm trying to make an hour or so of time that other people can come to a specific location to gather.

I always seem to find myself in this building for Friday and Saturday evening panels. This is the Hotel that has a Jimmy Johns built into it right before the Hilton's main building. The Lobby is located at Eutaw Street. When you see Eutaw, cross it and follow the 2nd Skywalk, then turn left and go into the Hilton. You might want to get your food on the way (since it is on the way to the Hilton) so you can then eat and relax.

Also, if someone can refresh my memory; before the 2nd Skywalk and crossing Eutaw, you can also go in the other building (also part of the Hilton) but I seem to recall them only having a helpdesk and nothing else there to sit on. People always come and go through both these places, but I always see this place not very crowded. The closest restaurants are the Jimmy Johns & Subway if you exit the convention center (unless you want to order from the Hilton Restaurant).

Might want to order your food first and bring it to this location to then eat and relax if you are not already waiting in line for something else or rushing to another event.

I just went to the other place thinking I was at the wrong place. Coming back. Newsboy cap, glasses, handsome dark facial hair, messenger bag, and a look of perplexed aggravation.

Not wearing a cap but other than that Lee's comment seems to describe me

As a long-time Otakon attendee I really, really, really cannot recommend this. My experience with these restaurants during the con have been horrible. No, there's nothing wrong with the restaurants themselves, but the SHEER SUM of people that line up for food there is staggering. I've waited an hour at the Subway before, and done the same at Cal Tortilla.

Might I suggest, as an alternative, a slightly incognito and tiny inside mall just across the street? There's a pizza place on the bottom floor and a weight-based charging buffet place up top. Alternatively, a short walk to the restaurants of the Inner Harbor tends to be profitable as well.

Heck, last year I did quite well just hitting the hot dog stands outside. Most anything works better than the Subway and Jimmy Johns. -_-

I also didn't realize the California Tortila was no longer there, I assume it's the Subway now?

Was tempted to change this to the Hilton Restaurant, buy didn't think many people would be down with that.

I highly approve of the new venue and will take strides to attend.
