When she graduated middle school and entered 9th grade, Kuroki Tomoki thought she'd make lots of friends and even find a man. She's bagged lots of men and became the most popular kid at school multiple times, unfortunately, this is only applicable to her dating sims. The first season has gone by and Kuroki hasn't made a single friend . Kuroki is determined to make at least one friend by the end of the school year, but has difficult just talking to people, and has such crippling anxiety whenever people approach her that she clams up or tries to run away from the situation. Can Kuroki make any friends and make herself have a memorable high school life?
WataMote has gotten praise for it's character and her ways of dealing with her social anxiety, but it has also sparked controversy on the way it's treated here, too. Either way, the manga has sold over 1.5 million copies, and has already generated a more comedic spin-off series.
There aren't any good trailers, so I have included the only one, as well as one clip (also pretty much the only one), the opening theme, and an AMV so you can see more scenes that depict the main character dealing with her troubles.
A clip from the show:
Brief English Trailer:
The Opening Theme.
And here is an AMV with a song relevant to the theme of the show, that shows clips from her perspective; as she frequently doubts herself and judges her own actions negatively when she interacts with anyone.
Bonus: She has a brother and they actually act like real siblings with 0% crush story lines from either party.
