Marv's 3rd Acoustic Jam on the Court
Early arrival is okay if you're ready to help out.

End time: When everyone drops, the skeeters are full, folks split for Dun Dealgan, or the police arrive.

BYOB for sure. BYO: instruments, sunscreen, bug repellant, lawn chairs, stools, music stands, lawn chairs, blankets, hand drums, instruments, djembes, doumbeks, lawn chairs, bodrans, didgeridoos, kazoos, did I mention lawn chairs? etc... Pop-up canopies will be much appreciated. The deck has a ceiling underneath, and pop-ups will block the sun and any very really highly unlikely rain showers.

This is a fun community jam occasion focusing upon music, learning and camaraderie.  Leave politics, religion, weapons, arguments outside the property line. Multiple playing circles happen.  Folks at all skill levels may share a circle, and "beginners" are encouraged to relax and join in with any circle.  Typically a circle is a round robin scenario with each person singing/leading a song around the circle, then switch to the next person.  No hogging, hotdogging, butting ahead, or gunslinging, please. Let's relax and enjoy this time together.

Small amps allowed ONLY if they do not overpower a nearby acoustic guitar or vocals, and if you have a long enough extension cord. Host will adjust volume as needed.

Optional pot-luck: bring a snack, fruit or entree dish with serving utensils to share if you can. BRING SOME CHILI if you want. Don't be offended if we ask ingredients of anything you bring: allergy purposes. We will provide some CHILI, hamburgers, hotdogs, ice, soda, and water.

Park around the court or down the street as needed. Drop off at my driveway if you bring something heavy. NO PETS!!! We have dogs & a cat (all sequestered), lawn, garden, outdoor critters, and woods; in case anyone has allergies, please be prepared.

Supervised children are okay. NOT OKAY: sitting on deck railing, hanging off deck, climbing fences, roaming the woods, forgetting to take your kids home or... you get the drift ;-).

PLEASE keep your RSVP up to date so we know how many to expect. We are trying to plan according to headcount. Show-ups without RSVP not appreciated. No RSVPs after June 15. THIS IS AN OUTDOOR EVENT, NO RAIN DATE; I will determine go/no go earlier in the morning. Smoking outdoors only; butt urns will be provided. Dress appropriately, it could be hot during day, yet get cool come sunset!

Please review and answer the questions so we can have a safe, stress free good time.

Two lost and found items: one blue Thermos and a broken stars and stripes LAWN CHAIR. I figured I'd not list the various and sundry picks on the ground..

Thank you Cynthia and Marv for being such gracious hosts. Thanks to all for making two newbies feel so welcome. Debbie and I had a great time. My fingers hurt on Sunday, always a sign of a great guitar workout on Saturday. Cheers!

This past Saturday's jam at our place was a very fine time for Cynthia and moi. It allowed some needed counterbalance to what's been a raw month.... thanks to all my friends and colleagues for attending and providing much needed camaraderie...

Should we try another later in the season? Or was one enough?

I was quite impressed with new member attendees and how they slipped right into the playing circles. I was especially happy that the "more seasoned" players embraced beginners and others sharing song leads and sharing knowledge...

The pulled venison BBQ has been underway. Gonna be good. I crocked it for 14 hours and now letting it cool down in the frig. This evening I will pull it apart and add the "special " sauce and let it marry untill tomorrow when i place it back in the crock for a couple hours before the party........

Ok, I had a couple OldTimers' moments, and I think I screwed up a couple attendees as no shows or not attending. It's my foibles, not yours. Let me know if I mucked up your attendance, tag yourself and others in the photos, whatever... I am still learning some of the functions of the Meetup site, and I apologize if I rearranged reality for you....

Cynthia and I want to thank everybody who attended, especially those brought some food to share; and we want to thank those who took leftovers home. I have a few thousand pounds to lose; and although I consider dessert the most major food group, you saved me from myself. VITTLES UPDATE: (With this number of folks, dupes are okay)
    MARVelous- chili, burgers, haute dawgs
Fran Kriston- salad and a good time attitutde
    Steve Michalek- dessert
    Jim Arbutus- barbequed venison
    John Lynch- rolls
    Jay- brownies
    Dave Nagle- fruit salad
Rick Burns- tortilla chips and guacamole
Eric & Debbie Ray- main, side, salad, desert, drinks ?? Whatever is convenient, Eric. It's voluntary.
Doug Jackson- Tuaca or chilled SoCo
Michael Cornish- chips and guacamole (In my book, double on this dish is smart!)
Silvia- yes what should I take? Whatever is convenient.
scott- might get creative the nite before

MaMa and I are wondering whether we do burgers/dawgs or fried or BBQ chicken? Pondering the options, time and prep.

Speaking of burgers, the devil on my shoulder keeps whispering: "Ain' nobody bringin' Berger cookies?" That debbil is kinda Carolina colloquial...

Okey, dokey, the address was e-mailed via Meetup in the wee hours. If you did not get such message, please contact me through Meetup as well as via [masked]. Looks like great weather ahead. If weather gets verklempt Saturday morning, I will declare go/no go early, but it looks like that shouldn't be a concern. As odd as this may sound, consider bringing a light jacket, hoodie or fleece in case it gets chilly in the shade for ya.... get ready to have some fun, play some music, make new friends, and enjoy the company...

Was reading answers to the questions. It's okay to arrive after 2PM. If you arrive before 2PM, we may enlist your help; but I think we'll have the estate ready by Friday evening. We will provide some burgers and hot dogs, maybe some chili. Life events have slipped back other prep so we'll see about the chili. I usually start it a day or two ahead and low-slow cook it. We're looking forward to seeing you and sharing a fabulous sunny day. Hopefully we won't have to roll out the astro-turf if it deluges during the week. Want to stress that we usually have multiple playing circles going at the same time so I hope to see everyone join in and share/lead songs. No one should let being a beginner keep you on the periphery, and I urge the longtimers to share some knowledge. It's a fun event, yet an opportunity to learn along the way...
