“BARN BASH”

Saturday, September 14th from 2:00 UNTIL

Hosted by the Hyson’s

Stu Miller has been kind enough to offer his talents to run two Bose sound systems for the stage area in the barn to include some of his own equipment. There will be many off stage areas to play on the grounds to include the deck at the house with an acoustic surround sound system for a more personal group setting and secluded wooded areas around the farm. There are stage lights for evening entertainment.

Items you will need and other things you may want to bring along :

• BYOB

• Chairs

• A Dish to share

• Instruments-electronics for recording-iPads for sing alongs, cameras.

• Old shoes if the ground is wet and preferably no high heels, areas on the grounds around the barn need re-graded and barn floors are not flush in places.

• Tents, campers, camping gear, flashlights, bug spray, etc. for anyone that wishes to spend the night on the grounds or in the barn, come early to set up tents. There will be a big bonfire late at night to burn barn wood from the renovations.

• An appetite, we will be roasting a pig– breakfast coffee & doughnuts by request.

Some pointers :

▸ Please don’t feed our dog, Scooch, no matter how much he begs, and he steals food too.

▸ However, you can feed the cat, queen of the farm, but if you need your fingers for playing, it wouldn’t be a good idea to hand her food but tossing is safe

▸ And lastly, no hanging from the rafters, the bats won’t like it.

Hope to see you at the bash to get your jam on !!!

For those musicians that performed at Mary & Gary's 'Barn Bash' a couple of weeks ago, I have the recordings ready (on CDs). Marv Egolf agreed to take them and see that the performers get them if they want them.

Though I'm not properly set up to make recordings (the way I think they should be made) they turned out ok except for (uh-oh, here come the excuses...):
    1. My recorder's output connector is acting up so unfortunately a couple of songs have some noise in them for a brief time.
    2. Batteries had to be changed a couple of times - right in the middle of a song, unfortunately.
    3. The recorder ran out of memory so had to change memory cards in mid-song a couple of times.
    4. A couple of songs were not mixed too well until about a minute into the song.
    5. I couldn't get a decent signal from Marv's bass, back to the recorder so Marv's bass is not as prominent on the recordings as I would have liked.

Otherwise...Those of you who get them from Marv...I hope you like them.

The post was broken down in two parts due to character length.
Take care and see you all at the next jam!

I wanted to shout out a huge thank you to everyone for coming out and sharing your amazing talent and more importantly your friendship. Stu and Susan, thank you for taking care of the sound so that Gary and I could concentrate on other areas. Gary thoroughly enjoyed himself, and I know I did, and so did the Scooch. Randy told me the Scooch was on stage with her, and at the end of Larry’s set and stole his thunder.
We hope all of you had as much fun as we did and come back and join us to get your jam on and again many, many, thanks for sharing your talents with us,

    Gary and Mary Hyson

To all of our Barn Bashing friends,
Wow, we are touched by all of the nice comments and I have been reading them to Gary as they come in. We have been busy since the Bash starting with the morning after as Susan and Randy helped cart the remaining items back to the house, thank you ladies. It was a beautiful morning, and we shared coffee at the bar, and had a great conversation about the Bash, and World events. Dave Smith, you missed an interesting conversation on Politics and World events as Randy has a PHD in military history.

Domitian became the Emperor of Rome, the 1st lighthouse was lit in the American colonies, Francis Scott Key inspired to write the "Star-Spangled Banner, Golf saw its 1st recorded hole-in-one, Chubby Checker's "Twist" hit #1, America's 1st surviving quintuplets were born, “F Troop” premiered…and now the “Barn Bash” will be added to the list of significant events that occurred on 9/14! My immense gratitude to Mary, Gary, and everyone involved in the execution of this most extraordinary event. Also, a big shout out to the “Mississippian” who ran sound! :-)= It was indeed a splendid day…and how cool was it just to be there! The Hyson’s rock!

Many thanks to Mary and Gary Hyson for hosting a fantastic Barn Bash in Stewartstown, PA, yesterday, for the roast pork, the wonderful facility, the hospitality, the bonfire; and much gratitude to Stu Miller for corralling the sound mix and the program.

Fantabulous!! A most excellent event! We were blessed with a beautiful day... in so many ways. Many thanks to Mary and Gary for inviting us to share this amazing space with you. Thanks to Stu for keeping the performances running and sounding flawless. The BARN, the food (including the incredible pork), the music, the people... created phenomenal energy and synergy... I still feel high from all the good vibes! And the camaraderie was extraordinary!! Gotta say it again... fantabulous!

A special thanks to everyone who encouraged and supported me in getting up on the stage to join in the singing! Was more special and meaningful than you can imagine! ♡

To all performers planning to perform on the main stage (in the barn):

I'll be bringing gear that will allow me to make decent recordings if anyone wants a freebie recording of their performance on the main stage.

I plan to set up four microphones and provide four instrument feeds.

If anyone has any special requirements outside of the above (e.g. have a stereo guitar pickup, or wants to bring their favorite microphone; or requires more than four mics and four instrument feeds simulatenously....please let me know ahead of time; the sooner the better, so I can get prepared. Best is to email me a stage plot if there are more than four mics and four instrument feeds as part of your performance.

Damn! I just realized...I can't bring my high heels!!!

    Hi All,
The temperature is going to drop in the High 40's Saturday night. Anyone who is camping or staying late, please be prepared for cooler weather and instruments can be brought in the house in a secured room until morning. Anyone pitching a tent might want to come early to claim their spot and get set up before the Bash is in full swing.
Caution: Since the weather is cooler, the deer are on the move. They will run out in front of your car from the corn fields, especially the fawns, please don't hit Bambi.
If anyone has any questions please message me and the instruments were a concern which is why this is being posted to everyone. See you all here at the Bash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
