I'm looking for a chance to connect with other local musicians and stretch my skills, and am open to the possibility of a project or two coming out of it.

Marginally. my Ibanez electric, which has a much more versatile set of voices than it probably has any right to. But the Martin Backpacker is a close second.
An Ovation acoustic/electic; I love the way Ovations sound. Plus, it's shaped like a lute.
Richard Thompson (not that I have the fraction of a fraction of his skill); his drone-and-melody resonates pretty deeply for me, and his fusion of rock, trad, folk, Celtic, and Middle Eastern styles isn't a bad laundry list of my own influences.
"I'm also, when time permits, a member of the prog/wyrdfolk/experimental ensemble OVO; some of what we do can be heard here: http://virb.com/projectovo (that's me on vox/guitar/octave mandolin/recorder, variously)."
