We are looking for an enthusiastic Lead Software Engineer for our Web Services team. The successful incumbent will manage a team working on the community site for the Elder Scrolls Online! You will be leading a small team of developers and designers to bring exciting new online content to the player base. You will be responsible for ensuring you and your team deliver high quality software on the web to millions of MMO players in a consistent and reliable manner while using the latest cutting edge web technology.

Responsibilities Include:
•Managing a team of developers to develop and expand the Elder Scrolls Online community site.
•Leading the development of and supporting a highly interactive website with an aggressive uptime and many interesting features.
•Working cross-team with content producers, community managers, marketing, operations and engineering to bring together a complete online experience for players.
•Understanding advanced back end web technology including caching, scaling strategies and database architecture to support millions of simultaneous interactive users.

Required Skills:
•Proven track record of working in a high volume and complex web environment
•Extensive PHP, Ruby or Python programming experience
•Programming experience with HTML5, XHTML markup, CSS and Javascript. jQuery preferred.
•Understanding of web architecture and experience with web design both front end web pages and back end middleware systems
•Experience with solving performance issues and web performance tuning
•Knowledge of 3rd party system integration technology (web services, REST)
•Understanding of MySQL
•Experience setting up and configuring web servers
•Excellent writing and communication ability

Desirable Skills:
•Knowledge of web trends and web communities
•Experience in web security
•Agile software development
•SCRUM

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from a four-year college or university; or 7-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
