Whether you know "how to play"... or you'd "like to learn"... this meetup... is COMPLETELY about having fun! We meet in one of the member's home (which rotates)... everyone who attends is asked to bring an appetizer and drink to share (yeah, it's a potluck thing).

The group is VERY DIVERSE. Half are men, half are women. Some are married... some are not. Some are old (in their 50s)... some are young (20s). But EVERYONE... has fun! (Which is not a requirement, it's just the typical thing.)

We start at 6pm... games typically go on til 11p or midnight... or when everyone is gone. If there are "newbies" to the game of mahjongg... we spend a bit of time at the beginning, explaining how the game is played. (Which is much like gin rummy... so it's very simple to learn... and makes it a very strategic game to play.)

We break the group into players of 4. Those who are interested in "scoring"... will play together. But most of us... are still "newbies"... even after a year or so having played. (It's really MORE about... socializing... and having fun.) Of course... as mentioned... we typically play for 5+ hours... so we DEFINITELY "get our game on". So come on out... and join the fun!

Thanks,
David

OH... these "3rd Sat of the month get-togethers" are in the Contra Costa area. (Most of the games have been played at my house in Danville. Though some of the games have been in Livermore, Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill.)

OH... OH... and please don't flake, if you signup (or change your RSVP as soon as possible).

It is fun to get to play mahjong with other people who also love the game. Also, the food and wine is always a yummy treat!

Good group of people, many stayed late into the evening and helped clean up afterwards. (THANKS SO MUCH!) Other than one person, everyone mentioned having great fun that night. (As for that one person... simply, do not tell me it's horrible music. (Cuz if you don't like it... don't put me down or say anything poorly, ask me "kindly" to turn it down, and I will... or just leave.))

It was a great time. David and Andrew were so helpful with showing us newbies the basics. Attendees were friendly and knowledgeable. The only downside is that it's quite far for those on the peninsula.
    •  "Every thing was great "but the continuos monotone thumping back ground music the host insisted in playing. Rather like being at a stop light when a car with a booming stereo pulls up to you in the next lane and the vibrations shakes your car. Left early it was giving me a headache, mentioned this to the host but his answer was his house his
    •  Great place for fun & serious mahjong players! :)
    •  I'm so happy I found this group. I love playing mahjong and it's great to find others who enjoy it as much as I do. Great venue - David does a wonderful job of making everyone feel at home.
    •  Nice time. Great people.
