StixCamp Queensland - July 2010

Hi all

You're now all familiar with BarCamp... put it in the stix and you get... yes! StixCamp!
So, apart from a BarCamp Brisbane probably happening in June in the city, we've been looking at another gig "out there". This concept has been done before in Victoria (last year) and elsewhere in the world. It's great, can be more than one day, and that means it can be fun to bring family.

Current options are a bit North and a bit South of Brisbane, definitely out of the city. One option only has camping spots, the other would also feature bunks and cabins for those who can't/won't camp. Either way there'd be electricity and wifi, undercover shelter for rain/sun, etc. We're not going to do anything completely silly, just a little bit more out there ;-)

Interested? Please blip by replying - chances are it'll be either at the start or the end of the July QLD school holidays, so that's Saturday 3 - Monday 5 July or Friday 9 - Sunday 11 July, with the latter being the favourite at this point. Rough schedule would be for people to arrive on the arvo of the first day, and leave the arvo of the last day. People could also just drop by for one day if they don't want to stay overnight.

So just to be clear, dates and location not yet final, and some of the rest depends on the location - including cost (but we'd be thinking <$200 p.p. if not way lower)... we just need to know NOW whether the idea will float in terms of numbers, and then if lots of people are interested (looks like it) there might be a "we're full" scenario. NSW,ACT,VIC will also have holidays and some people there have already expressed interest; possibly also other states and NZ. So it's likely to be quite a broad event.

Anyway, please reply if you're likely to come to this gig!
Thanks

Cheers,
Arjen.
