7:00PM Presentation by Ari Krupnik:
"Emotional Trader, Emotional Engineer: Converting Emotions from Adversaries to Allies"
Trading can bring up strong emotions--fear, greed, joy, excitement,
despair. Traders may judge these feelings to be "good" or "bad."
Technical traders especially may try to distance themselves from their
emotions, and use a system to shield their trading from their
emotions. My experience is that the more one tries to control an
emotion, the more that emotion controls one's life. For example, a
trader who judges fear as a "bad" emotion may try to avoid feeling
fear. He may "fearlessly" take on bigger positions than his account
size can support. He then gets to experience big-time fear when the
smallest price move against him threatens to wipe him out.
I hold that all emotions have positive intentions and carry valuable
information. The positive intention of fear is risk control. A trader
who is willing to experience his fear keeps himself safe in his
trading, in his driving and in his life. In this talk, I share my
experience accepting my own emotions and helping others accept
theirs. I show how this shows up in my trading, my engineering and my
relationships.
Ari Krupnik is the leader of Silicon Valley Computer Tribe
http://www.lib.aero... , a group of engineers who support each other in
experiencing, fully and joyously, the emotions that come up in their
work. Ari helps engineers clear blockages, acquire focus and clarify
intentions. Ari's trading experience includes trading commodity and
index futures. His engineering experience spans 15 years in military,
corporate and startup environments. The Silicon Valley Computer Tribe
is an outgrowth of Ari's experience in Ed Seykota's Incline Village
Trading Tribe.
