Sun., 3/17/13: Our Ladies League Meeting Fremont Park

Regardless of golf experience or skill level, all women who are interested in joining a Ladies League are welcome to participate.

We will discuss tournament ideas, and Alex will explain to us about how to get an NCGA (Northern California Golf Association) card, the benefits of being a member of NCGA and how to develop a handicap.

We will also discuss ideas for prizes and social events (like a tea or lunch/breakfast before or after each tournament).

You do not have to have a handicap to join. I don't have a handicap yet and I'm not the greatest golfer but enjoy golfing and love the outdoors.

The tournaments will be held on the third Saturday of each month.  You do not have to play every month if you are not able to.

After the meeting is over, those who want to stay and play golf will have plenty of time to hit some balls and warm up.  I'll schedule a separate optional golf meetup so that the male species of our group can join us.

If you are interested in joining the Ladies League but are not able to make it to this meeting, please email me or text/call me (if you already have my phone #).

Our league will be so much fun, so I hope many of you will come out for it.

For the men who might be reading this, if you know any women who might be interested, please pass this information on to them.  They do not have to be a member of our meetup group to join the Ladies League.

I just emailed the notes to everyone. Please let me know if you didn't receive an email from me.

BRENDA, the email to you bounced back. Is there another email address I can try?

Do I have to go to every tournament on every third Saturday?

    March 18, 2013

    • Lucy

I had said in our meeting that there is no minimum requirement, but the more I think about it, the more I think we should play in at least 4 tournaments. We are playing every month from April - November. That's 8 events. When I send out the post-mortem notes tonight, I'll mention this and see how the members feel about it.

Change in meeting venue: We will meet on the patio, so please be sure to wear a jacket.

In re-reading the above text, I just realized that I didn't mention the membership & tournament fees, although I had mentioned it in the very first email to everyone.

The annual membership is $99, which includes membership to NCGA, a $50 driving range card, a free round of golf and discounts on lessons and merchandise.

The cost of each tournament is $25, for which a portion will go towards the green fee and the remainder will go into a kitty for each month's prizes and our end-of-year celebration (prizes, food & wine).

Me too. I won't be able to make it to the meeting. But I am interested in the league. Every third Saturday will work for me.

    Girls rule! boys drool. :(...
I want to join, but I don't want to get up so early to talk.
So, we don't have to play all the time, just once a month in the tournaments?

    March 4, 2013

    • Lorna

Lucy, Do we pay on the 17th?

      March 5, 2013

    • Lucy

There's a regular $13 meetup (co-ed) scheduled at 11:00 on the 17th. At 9:30 is just a meeting for us women to talk about the league and to sign up. The first Ladies League tourney will be on April 20th.

Sorry, Brian, Ha Ha! Start a Men's League.

When David and I first met, he said I could start a Ladies or a Co-ed League (although one already exists). I was strongly leaning towards the Co-ed League for our meetup group, but Alex told us last Thursday that he'd like a Ladies League started, so that's where we are. Matt heads the Men's League at Fremont Park.

I'm really interested, but can't meet on Sundays. Is Sunday the official day for the women's league?

    February 25, 2013

    • Lucy

Hello, Nikki! As I mentioned above, the tournaments will probably be held the third Saturday of each month. Only our first meeting is scheduled for a Sunday because I didn't want it to conflict with any of our already-scheduled meetups. When we meet, we'll decide which Saturday of the month will work the best for the majority of us. I scheduled our first tournament for Saturday, April 20th; it's on our calendar, but I haven't announced it yet. I'm really happy that you're interested. I haven't seen you in a couple of months. See you soon . . . :-)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
