Sat., 4/27/13: Lake Chabot 18 Holes

This meetup is for our more Advanced players only, for Lake Chabot is a long, tough course.

Unless you purchased a GolfNow special voucher, the green fee is $40 + $15 cart = $55

The tee times under "Lucy Kim" are 11:57 a.m., 12:06, 12:15 and 12:24 p.m.

Since the chipping/smaller green, the driving range and 1st tee are in front of the pro shop, and we usually tend to be all over the place, let's just meet at the first tee and be ready to go by 11:45 a.m. This group is always good, but Lake Chabot has asked that we be checked in at least 20 minutes prior to tee time.

Carts cannot be checked out until 30 minutes prior to your tee time due to the heavy volume of golfers on the weekends.

In this left photo are Eddy, Rick and John on the par-6 18th hole.

Look how dizzying some of the holes are!

The weather was spectacular and our members awesome, as usual. I can't believe Jorge actually walked the course! Talk about being in shape.

Congrats to R.J. and A.J. for shooting 84 each! One birdie and 9 pars for R.J. Also congrats to Akira for getting 7 pars and hitting some amazing drives!

Condolences to Kiet--while taking practice swings on the next tee box--for getting hit in the butt with Larry's errant ball from the other fairway.

Wonderful time, wonderful memories. What a great day it was!

Be forewarned: It's supposed to be in the mid-70s in the afternoon. Also, in case the first group didn't see the earlier posting, RJ and AJ are riding together and Bill and Jorge are. I plan to arrive around 10:45 a.m. to warm up. I will have the names of the four people on my voucher written on it, and I suggest Kiet do the same thing. Even if you have reimbursed me or Kiet or will pay us, still check in at the pro shop, thanks. See you guys tomorrow.

Below are the group assignments. If there's one more cancellation, we'll go 3 foursomes. In the meantime, the 1st and 3rd players check out the cart and ride with the person to their right or ride single:

    Group1: R.J., Bill, Jorge
    Group2: Kiet, Michele, Rick
    Group3: Lucy, Lorna, Akira
    Group4: Larry, Sally, Dean, Lindy

Kiet and I will bring the vouchers for the following players:

Voucher #1: Lucy, Rick, R.J., Jorge
Voucher #2: Kiet, Bill H, Akira, Michele R.

I already have the group assignments finished but will revise as others RSVP. If you have any requests, please text/email me ASAP because I want to keep the roster-change-up to less than 5 this time, LOL.

I had mentioned above that we need to check in at least 20 minutes prior to tee time and that carts cannot be checked out until 30 minutes prior. I'll mention this again when I post the line-up in a few days.

Lastly, a reminder that only your clubs up to the 6-iron can be used at their driving range.

Another lastly, I'm going to nag y'all about the pace of play later in a separate post. The pace was an issue at yesterday's San Ramon meetup, and it was an issue the last time our large group golfed Lake Chabot 18 holes.

Tee times confirmed: 12:06, 12:15 and 12:24. Please be checked in 20 minutes prior to teeing off. They have 2 putting greens and a driving range where you can only hit your short irons. I'll be at the smaller of the 2 greens, which is located in front of the pro shop practicing my chipping.

Let's meet at the first tee at 11:55 a.m.

If you have a voucher, print it now and stick it in your golf bag so that you don't forget it. I'll print my foursome's and Kiet will print his foursome's.

    Here's the updated voucher info:

Voucher #1: Lucy, Rick, R.J., Jorge
Voucher #2: Kiet, Bill H, Akira, Michele R. For those who have never golfed Lake Chabot before, it's a very difficult, hilly course. The marshals there are very vigilant, so always keep up with the group in front of you. To keep pace, play "ready golf" (if you don't know what this is, click on the link below); always have your club selected for your next shot (don't wait until it's your turn to hit to select your club), or if you are not sure about which club to use, take a couple with you instead of going back and forth to your cart constantly.

If someone in your group suggests you pick up your ball because you are having a difficult time on a particular hole, don't be upset and please pick up your ball.

The only hole that's flat is the 120-yard 12th hole; otherwise, the rest of the course is extremely steep and hilly.

In the first photo is Pretty Boy on the 141-yard 9th hole, which goes STRAIGHT DOWN below. You have to follow the cart path which is to the left of the tee box down to the green. I mention this, because this hole can be VERY confusing. Keep your eyes on the group in front of you to see which way they are going.

The second photo is R.J.'s birdie hole. (Look at the view behind Noel!)

You can't see the tee box from the third photo (it's top right behind the dark green trees), but Kiet drove his ball down to the bottom of the hill. That's over 400 yards! Nice roll, babe!
