Sat., 8/3/13: Fremont Park 9 Holes

The tee times under "Lucy" begin at 10:00 a.m.

Please meet me by the patio next to the restrooms at 9:45 a.m. after you've checked in at the pro shop.

Green fee = $13 if we have 8 or more players; otherwise, it's $19.  Pushcarts are $5.

"Beginners"/novice golfers who have had some golf lessons or have spent some time on a driving range are welcome to join us.  However, please make sure you read up on basic golf etiquette before arrive.  Here's a link:

http://www.usga.org/etiquette/tips/golf-etiquette-101/

Pay special attention to "Pace of Play" and jot down stuff that don't make sense to you.  I or someone in your group will explain what the stuff means. I will ask any newcomers I introduce myself to if they have read the above link.

Because this is going to be a fun golf outing and not a tournament, y'all can use whatever clubs you want.  As for me, I want to practice for an upcoming Ladies' 3- or 4-Club Tournament, so I will be using a limited number of clubs.

I hope many of you "beginners" and those who want to practice their short game will join us!

    1. Who lost their driver cover last Saturday at Fremont Park? I picked it up for you.

    2. Henry will post details on our Discussion Forum and on our Marketplace page soon, but he has a set of golf clubs for sale. Watch for the announcement.

Congrats to the winners: Jennifer on Hole #6, Tim on Hole #8 and Greg the Longest Driver! And congrats to Tim for winning $100 for being the 100th customer of the day at Fremont Park!

Today started out really nice with the golf lesson for our novice members and then everyone meeting and hanging out before we teed off. The weather was great, too!

I had a real blast with everyone. Thanks for coming out . . . See you guys again soon.

Oh, Happy Day! I'm at Fremont Park and found out that there's a free BBQ from 12:00-2:00. That's just in time for us to chow down before a replay!!!! Yay!!!!

Dan said he's also hosting a long-putt contest between 12:00 and 2:00 on the main putting green. Anyone can win a prize!

Lastly, I decided to do a closest-to-the-pin contest on holes #6 & #8 and longest drive on hole #9. GolfSmith $10 giftcards to the winners.

Ernie, Stuart, Brian and Elmer: Since the 4 of you are participating in next Friday's BBQ and by coincidence you're not teeing off until later, let's check out the putting green next to the 1st tee and figure out a cool miniature golf layout for one of our contests for next Friday!

Here's an updated line-up. Very little has changed--2 players have been added and one player moved up:

    Group1: Tim, Shailesh, Guru, Max
    Group2: David, Will, Greg, Ricky
    Group3: Lucy, Joan, Hoan
    Group4: Phillip, Brian, Jennifer, Ernie
    Group5: Stuart, Ben, Elmer

This is a very well-balanced line-up, so I'm holding my breath and crossing my fingers and toes that nobody cancels. I will leave the last 2 spots open so anyone can RSVP at the last minute or just show up (like they sometimes do, LOL).

Our replay is always "whenever." Whenever we are ready, that is.

It's never too hot at Fremont Park. Perhaps that's because I practice Bikram Yoga, and 105 degrees is very comfortable for me.

Here are the groups. We have 5 tee times, so if more people sign up before we tee off, the line-up might change a bit.

    Group1: Tim, Shailesh, Guru
    Group2: David, Max, Will, Greg
    Group3: Lucy, Joan, Hoan
    Group4: Phillip, Brian, Yuna, Jennifer
    Group5: Stuart, Ben, Elmer

I plan to do a re-play, and it's only $7 for the re-play, so please join me if you'd like.

If you need a cart, the push carts are $5.

Please check your inbox, for I'm emailing you my phone # and other info.

If you're planning to do a re-play, you might want to bring a lunch, because Fremont Park only has light snacks (nuts, chips).

Also, if this is your first time golfing Fremont Park, you might want to bring extra balls, because you'll most likely lose a bunch.

Do you have tee times for replay? I think I might want to. It will depend how hot it is proably.

I see that several of you are novice golfers. Please let me know if anyone else other than Elmer needs golf balls and tees.

I thank the following players for donating golf balls to our beginners: Delius gave me a bunch he found at Roddy Ranch, Anil gave me some at Deep Cliff and Ted's given me a couple of handfuls from various courses we've recently played.

The others who've donated balls in the past include Noel, R.J., Kiet, Larry and Brian. Our beginners appreciate your thoughtfulness!

Looks like you have 4 foursomes, but if anyone drops out I'll play.

There was a last-minute cancellation after I posted the group assignments. I will send her an email about that. She should have cancelled sooner. Because you are joining us, I don't have to re-work the groups, which would have taken some time. You can tee off with Phillip after my group goes. I will scramble up the groups for the optional replay.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
