I did a site visit today and here’s what I found out:
Friday evenings are very busy. At 7:30 p.m., all lanes close to the public because there’s a bowling league event until 9:00 p.m.
It’s really busy around 6:30 p.m., so if we purchase a few of the one-hour vouchers for $19 and try to get 3 lanes, then we most likely won’t get lanes.
The manager suggested getting the 2-hour special for $29. This way, a few of us can arrive at 5:30 and bowl, then let the 6:30-arrivers bowl when they get there.
If we do it that way, 2 of us will purchase the $29 voucher. The math will change when the RSVPs change, but let’s say we end up with 16 attendees:
$29 x 2 vouchers = $58 divided by 16 people = $3.625 per person.
Shoe rental is $4.00 extra per person. Four pairs of shoes are included with the 2 vouchers.
I’m making an executive decision and saying that the first four Event Hosts/Organizers who RSVP will get a free shoe rental. As of this writing, the lucky money-savers are Brian, Stuart and myself. Let’s call this our annual bonus.
Regarding after the bowling, we can eat greasy bar food and shoot pool.
Homestead Bowl’s X Bar only has 2 pool tables. At 9:00 p.m. every Friday, there’s a pool tournament. Tournament participants arrive around 7:00-7:30 to practice ON BOTH TABLES until their tournament starts. About this, I said, “That’s not cool.” After bugging them a bit, they agreed to let us have one of the pool tables until 9:00 p.m.
Also, there will be tables set up for the pool tournament participants, which we can share until 9:00 p.m.
At 9:00 p.m., Karaoke begins. We can stay and sing, or make fun of our members who attempt to Karaoke, or go home and get ready for the next day’s golf outing.
Also at 9:00 p.m., 10 bowling lanes open up to the public, so anyone interested in bowling later can do so.
