Mon., 6/16/14: Volunteers needed at Charity Golf Tournament

A few volunteers are still needed for various areas at the 1st Annual Aryana Health Care Foundation (AHCF) Golf Outing.

There is a long list of NFL and MLB personalities and other celebrities confirmed to attend.

Most likely the volunteers will be standing on the fairway and witnessing and judging the longest-drive and hole-in-one contests. At least that's where the current need is.  The duties/needs may change as we get closer to event date.

Continental breakfast, snacks and lunch will be provided to volunteers.  Those who put in a full day will be invited to enjoy a sushi buffet dinner at Katsu Restaurant downtown Los Gatos.

AHCF provides free or low-cost healthcare services (surgeries, MRI, CT scans, check-ups) to the indigent residents of NorCal.

This will be a hectic, but very fun & exciting day.  I hope some of you can join us for this important fundraiser.

Thank you for all your hard work. You guys really are awesome!

I posted some photos on our sister site, but I'll post some photos on here of the others tomorrow night.

I have photos which include Steven, LizP, LizH and Stu.

    Again, thank you for volunteering.

I'm at the registration table. They've asked me to wait for Barbara to return.

    UPDATE FROM LUCY:
Once you get to security gate, tell the guard you're there for the golf tournament. Go about 500 yards, you should see the clubhouse on the left.

There are a limited number of towels. But Lucy will make sure you receive your goodie bags. You do not need to ask for them.

Turkey sandwiches have been ordered and she'll make sure and will make sure we receive them.

Here, once again, is the duties list. There has been no change.

Putting contest (10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.): Brian (leader), Ted, Paul, Will with NFL Alumni Secretary Pierre Spear.

Please be at your stations/holes by 11:50 a.m. I will have several people take you guys to your holes.

    - Hole #1: Paul* and Mia (a.m.)/Vix (p.m.). Hole-in-One contest. Rolex watch prize.

    - Hole #6: Liz (a.m.) and Steven or Mike (?) OR Will and Milagros. Hole-in-Two contest. This is a par 5. Long-drive entertainer Chris Carey will hit the drive for everyone and anyone who can hole it on the second shot will win a 3-day trip to Pebble Beach for two or the Masters.

    - Hole #12: Ted* and Brian* OR Will* and Milagros. Hole-in-One contest to win a Hyundai Genesis. I put an asterisk by some names (Brian, Paul, Ted and Will). These guys will be on high alert to fill in as subs for paid players who cancel at the last-minute or will arrive late.

Lorna will be a floater with me and will fill in as needed (give contest hole volunteers breaks, fill in for our guys when/if they have to golf.

For those who haven't met me or have forgotten what I look like, I'll be wearing a white polo shirt with a red skirt and graffiti leggings. I will definitely stand out.

Morning volunteers, please check in at the registration desk. I'll see if they can make a small area at the registration table for volunteer check in. Ask for me (Lucy). I'm not sure if they'll have a registration table set up after the tournament begins at Noon, but I'll see if they can leave a small table there for volunteer check in.

Once you check in, make sure that you get a Volunteer Goodies Bag. It has a hat, snacks (chips, granola bar), some coupons, and a golf towel. They are supposed to give you a bottle of water. I will be going around each hole with another person to give you guys breaks and to make sure that you have enough water.

This will be a fun and exciting event: They are giving away a Hyundai Genesis, His & Hers Rolex watches, a motorcycle, golf trips and a whole bunch more.

There will also be about 15 NFL, MLB and NHL sports figures golfing.

    • Lucy

If any women are interested in helping us stuff all the goodie bags, please let me know. I have a tournament meeting at another site, but will arrive at Silver Creek at 2:00 p.m. We plan to use the Ladies Lounge to work on the goodie bags. We need 2 or 3 volunteers.

      1 · June 14

    • Lucy

Absolutely! Also, please wear comfy shoes like tennis shoes or maybe even golf shoes. Whichever is more comfortable for you.

An afternoon shift please and yes I can stay for dinner. Cheers!

    June 12

    • Lucy

Dinner is $75 and it's a small space, so only those who are able to work a full shift can attend dinner as a guest.

    • Lucy

Ok, let me look at the volunteer schedules and see where everyone is needed. Will let you guys know over the weekend. Thanks for volunteering!

I am treating this as a regular meetup, and the charity event will depend on you as a volunteer, so please do not be late for your shift or do a last-minute cancellation, thanks.

I see that a couple of you are coming from Oakland. There's always horrible traffic on 680S and 880S from Oakland to San Jose in the morning. What time are you guys available? I can't have you guys just show up whenever.

Please let me know if you want to work a morning shift, an afternoon shift or if you're available all day (including dinner in Los Gatos).

Hi Lucy, I have some free time on my hands, and I'd be happy to volunteer BUT I'm available only after 11:00 am. If that helps please let me know. Cheers!

    June 11

    • Lucy

Yes, that would be fantastic! Please RSVP. I'll give you guys more details and assignments after I get home from my charity tournament committee meeting.
