Greco Island Crossing (Redwood Creek/Westpoint Slough)

We'll paddle clockwise around the NW tip of Greco Island, out into the bay and cross back into Westpoint Slough. It is roughly a 2-3 hr paddle from put-in and may be cut shorter if we can take advantage of the wind.

Let's plan on shoving off at 11:45 unless everyone is there earlier. I will plan on being there around 11:15 or so. Look for my fat blue boat.

Nice day and great company. Water was calm as glass. Thanks Stuart!

Brian, bummer you can't make it.

Stu, I'm still in. See you at the put-in around 11:15.

Got a flu shot Friday, got the flu today. Sorry but going to have to bow out.

Could you update the map with the put in location, please.

Sorry I can't join you guys, but I'm out of town this weekend. Next time! I'm eager to try the Greco loop.

Beautiful day in forecast. Warm and low wind: less than 6 mph in early afternoon.

    Indian summer in the forecast.

OK, I contacted the Westpoint Marina people and they don't have public access at this time (such kayak access is apparently under construction for the future, though.) Don't know whether you are permitted to use the business park nearby to find a launch spot (one is listed on a BASK map I believe), nor whether that is less guarded/more open on weekends.

Bart, this is a short enough paddle that we could easily book another weekend later.

Well, let me know if you do!

I'm interested, depending on the dates. Are rentals available there (sadly I don't own a boat... Yet).

No rentals nearby but you may want to check with Aquan for a drive away rental. I am also thinking of selling the newer clone of my blue 10.5 footer recreational sit in. Drop me a pm if interested.

Thanks Stuart. I'm not ready to buy yet, and can't make this particular outing anyway, but will check Aquan for future outings.

To shorten this a bit, it might help to start at the Westpoint Slough marina, if that is open to the public (or someone lets you in).

You picked the one date I'm out of town! I'd like to try this, but you need to have 8 foot tides to make the passage between Greco and Bayfront Park side of Westpoint Slough. Just any old date won't do!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
