Why are you interested in this Meetup?

I'd like to meet other paddlers from the bay area, especially San Rafael and surrounding areas.

What skill level are you? It really makes no difference if you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced kayaker. We ask so we can better plan our trips.

Intermediate. In the last couple years, I've learned to teach some kayaking basics like efficient forward stroke, self- and assisted rescues, and towing.

This is YOUR group! Tell me what you'd like to gain from being a member. Would you be willing to suggest and host paddles?

Yes, I'm willing to suggest and host paddles, especially launching from spots in Marin.

Do you own your own boat? If so, is it a sit on top or closed deck?

Yes, I own a closed-deck composite P&H Capella, a closed-deck composite Current Designs Infinity (came with a skeg and added a rudder) that I use for racing and expeditions, and a plastic P&H Delphin that I use for playing along the coast and local tide rips. Also a folding boat (a Folbot Cooper) which hasn't seen any use since I got my first hard-shell boat.

Please read the waiver and skills self evaluation in the "More / Files" section.

I've been kayaking for about the past 10 years, starting with rentals while on vacation. Now that I have my own boat, I get out on the Bay every chance I get! I'm a member of BASK (Bay Area Sea Kayakers) and did their skills clinic in 2011.
