It's that time of the year again, a special time for Beer Social members to welcome in the Spring with a visit to the oldest continually operated brewery in San Francisco, Anchor Brewing Company. We are the special guests of the brewery and have the entire place to ourselves, to tour, sample beer, and learn about the Anchor beer making techniques and bottling process. The Evening is Contained in Two Parts
Part I: The Ultimate Tour and Tasting - Anchor Brewing Company If you can only make one beer-tasting event this year, make it the Anchor Brewing Company in San Francisco. This is your chance to see and hear, firsthand, how world-class beer is made in a private tour of the entire brewery. Considered by many to be the oldest continually running microbrewery on the west coast, Anchor has maintained its tradition of hand-crafted beer since 1896. Anchor Steam derives its unusual name from the 19th century when "steam" seems to have been a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. The brewing methods of those days are a mystery and, although there are many theories, no one can say with certainty why the word "steam" came to be associated with beer. For many decades Anchor alone has used this quaint name for its unique beer. In modern times, "Steam" has become a trademark of Anchor Brewing. For more information on Anchor Brewing go here
http://www.anchorbrew... Before and following the tour, each participant will have the opportunity to sample Anchor's seven unique beers, including its world-famous Anchor Steam, all made in Anchor's handcrafted copper brew house equipment, a veritable museum of the simple, traditional breweries of old. We'll gather inside the brewery at 5:15 pm, and start the tour around 5:30 pm. The tour takes about an hour, and is followed by the beer sampling.
Part II: Dinner - Goat Hill Pizzeria The evening festivities continue with a short walk (or drive) to Goat Hill Pizza for an all you can eat and drink dinner. Considered one of the outstanding Italian Pizzerias in Potrero Hill, Goat Hill Pizza offers a delectable selection of meat and vegetarian pizzas along with your choice of micro-brewed beers, wine and other beverages. All you can eat includes any pizza, and salads on the menu, and any beverage including all the soft drinks, wine and beer you can drink! Space is limited, and your place is reserved once you have paid for the event. Because of the special nature of this event, you’re either a “Yes,” or “No” participant.
ALL PAYMENT MUST BE MADE USING PAYPAL. Your payment should be sent to [masked] Refunds are available for notices given up to two-days before the event. As friends can attest, the Anchor tour and tasting is an event not to be missed. Join us! Cliff
