New in Mountain View: Steins Beer Garden

Steins Beer Garden opens at the end of March and looks to be a great addition to the south bay craft beer scene, with

  • 30 taps of American craft and European beer, including several unavailable on draft anywhere else in the bay area
  • A spacious indoor beer hall and outdoor beer garden
  • A foodie-friendly menu with interesting twists on classic biergarten fare
  • A great location, 5 minutes walking from Caltrain/VTA

Steins has invited Bay Area Beer Socials to come check them out shortly after opening and will be reserving tables exclusively for us. They expect to be busy, so this is a great chance to experience them early on in a more comfortable atmosphere.

A partial tap list includes:

Fruli Strawberry Beer - Brouwerij Huyghe

Hitachino Nest White Ale - Kiuichi

Avant Garde - Lost Abbey

Chocolate Porter - Hangar 24

Shakenbake - Knee Deep + Boulder Collaboration

Das Naturtrube - Schwaben Brau

Barock Dunkel - Weltenburger Kloster

Belgium Tramp - Band of Gypsies Collaboration Project

Double Jack - Firestone

Raison d'etre - Dogfish Head

Rampant - New Belgium

Arrogant Bastard - Stone

Dog Ate My Homework - Brouwerij West

Odin's Tipple - Haandbryggeriet

It was very good, and I had a good communication, because of german beer! Catherine is right, a Pretzel is very important, too.

Excellent event with a lively mixed group; the venue was great with an accommodating staff and lots of great beers to be had. But no pretzels ;-)

Sorry, I am caught up at work. Won't be able to make it. Hopefully there are some more events in the South Bay.

Can't make it out tonight. It would be good to share the experience, but I'll have to check this place out another time.

Will be late, how late does this meetup ends?

    April 1, 2013

    • Mike W

We generally go three hours, so about 9 PM officially. People are welcome to stay as late as closing at 11 PM though.

Might be late too thanks for the note

Hi mike, can you recommend what beer we should be trying? The list is extensive. Sampling them all requires great fortitude and budget.

    April 1, 2013

    • Patrick S

They do have 4 flights that you can sample as well. They way, you won't be locked into one at a time. ;)

      2 · April 1, 2013

    • Mike W

I was going to recommend the flights also. Or ask the staff for a sample or recommendation, they should have a good knowledge of the beers on tap. Many of the beers are new to me as well.

With the large size of our group, Steins has offered us the use of one of their private rooms for the beer socials event tomorrow. To find us, look for the rooms off the hall behind the bar and keg cooler. We'll have Bay Area Beer Socials meetup signs on the tables.

But we can still trickle out to the patio I hope? It's nice out!

      April 1, 2013

    • Mike W

Sure! Feel free to check out the rest of the place while we're there.

That's a good one. If you like it, you might also want to try ODIN’S TIPPLE.

Sounds good, assuming they are big enough to handle this big a group.

    March 26, 2013

    • Alison J.

I stopped by on opening night, and they're big enough, especially if the weather is good enough for the beer garden patio.

Spanish anyone? ... a beer can make Spanish seem easier ... would anyone like to combine Spanish conversation with the meetups at Steins?
