Drake's Session Beer Festival

Drakes Brewing is sponsoring the first, of what will become an Annual Session Beer Festival to salute Session Beer Month across the country.

Session brews are craft style beers under 5% ABV, which makes them easier to consume with little after effect.

The Beer Advocate defines a session beer as the following;

Any beer that contains no higher than 5 percent ABV, featuring a balance between malt and hop characters (ingredients) and, typically, a clean finish - a combination of which creates a beer with high drinkability. The purpose of a session beer is to allow a beer drinker to have multiple beers, within a reasonable time period or session, without overwhelming the senses or reaching inappropriate levels of intoxication. (Yes, you can drink and enjoy beer without getting drunk.)

Drakes will highlight the event with its own beers and a selection group of others including;

21st Amendment
Ale Industries
Anderson Valley Brewing
Baeltane Brewing
Berryessa Brewing
Devil's Canyon

    This was great! It was good to have a venue to sample beers that otherwise are often overlooked.

    I'm handing out the Drake's logo patch to those that want them tomorrow around 1:00 pm. I have enough for everyone to have two (for your shirt, jacket or hat.) The Drake's people tell me that washing the patch permanently affixes them to clothing.

    Will there be suitable parking for bicycles -- racks, or other fixed objects to which bicycles can be locked? I too think that commuting by bicycle is appropriate for an event that benefits the bicycle coalition, though it is a long ride from San Jose.

      There will be complimentary bike valet parking provided by East Bay Bike Coalition

    Yes there are metal railed fences to lock your bike to but I would consider it unnessary given the proximity to the outdoor seating.

    It's only 1.3 miles from the BART, or a 7 minute bike ride. Since it's benefiting the Bike Coalition, I think biking from the BART is a no brainer :)
