Harry’s Hofbrau San Leandro will be featuring special beers from Deschutes Brewery, which brews award winning craft beers in Bend and Portland Oregon.
Featured beers of draft:
Abyss 2013: an 11% imperial stout brewed with licorice and molasses, barrel aged in French oak and Bourbon barrels. Only brewed once a year,
Black Butte XXV: an 11% ABV imperial porter brewed with dates, figs, chocolate, black currants and barrel-aged in bourbon casks. Tart berry and chocolate aroma with luscious layers of dried fruit, oak and vanilla. This is their 25th anniversary beer
Red Chair: a fantastic NW pale ale will be pouring on NITRO, The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, it’s an insider’s ride to fresh thrills
Hop Henge: a 9.3% Experimental Imperial IPA. An outrageous amount of Centennial and Cascade hops are added to each barrel, with a heavy dry-hop presence as well. It is dense and muscular, with a blend of crystal, pale and carastan malts creating an overall biscuity characteristic. It’s all hop, no apologies.
The Deschutes Brewery rep will be there and they will have commemorative glasses for you.
BABS members will get a ticket for $1 off the first beer. Don't forget to check in with me to get your BABS nametag and ticket for a $1 off discount on your first beer. If you get the commemorative glass all additional beers are $1 off as well.
Harry’s will provide complementary appetizers, nachos, and chicken wings.
There will be several tables pushed together in the bar area at the back of Harry’s for BABS members and that’s where you will find me. Look for me to be pouring complimentary samples of previous years of Abyss and Black Butte Anniversary from the bottles.
How to get there: You can BART your way over. The Bayfair BART is about a half mile from the bar. Exit BART towards Bayfair Shopping Center. Follow Bayfair Dr between the Target and 24 Hour Fitness until you get to Hesperian Blvd. Turn right on Hesperian and walk 0.4 miles to the intersection of Hesperian and E. 14thSt. Harry’s is on the corner of E. 14th St. and Hesperian/Bancroft.
Come join me for one of the first beer events in 2014 and start training your liver for SF Beer Week.
