Faction Brewing

Let's check out Faction Brewing in Alameda!

This is not only a good opportunity to day drinking on an ex Naval base to an amazing view of the city but it's also Mar's birthday party!

I know nothing about this brewery or their beer, the website has almost no information. The one thing that's for sure is that they won't fill growlers from other breweries unless they are "completely covered" what ever that means.

If anyone has any information post it in the notes and I'll add it.

* This brewery is apparently run by  Roger Davis formerly of Triple Rock and maybe Drakes with his wife Claudia who worked at 21st Amendment.

The beers are reportedly very hoppy and the winter IPA is supposedly very good

We aren't getting a special deal but see me for a name tag anyway so people know you are part of the group.

I do not ever endorse drinking and driving or riding with people that have been drinking. I suggest people share taxis

Walk through the tasting room into the back area, they've set us up with a private area in the brewery.

  • Jesse

Do they serve any food items?

    January 18, 2014

No but there is a small cafe at the winery next door...

FYI for those BARTing--the #31 bus runs every 30 min and there's one scheduled to leave 11th & Broadway at 1:44pm that gets to the end of the Alameda line at 2:05. We may wait there and see what comes first--the bus or a cab. (Hoping they still have some of the Winter IPA!)

Here's another update. I have it on good authority that the tap room isn't completely finished. I'm not sure what still needs to be done but I hope they have places to sit.

    January 13, 2014

    • Rene

There are places to sit, but it's a small place. Growlers have to be clean and the other logos have to be covered, like you're sending mail via UPS in a FedEx box, if that makes sense. I was just there Sunday.

My growler has only XXX on it.

Yes, CABS's Beertriots also have an event at Faction on the same day. There are 14 signed up so far (just got the invite). The more the merrier I say! And it looks like the best way to get there is take BART to the 12th St. Oakland stop and cab it (about 10 min). Maybe make a plan to meet up with small groups at the station? Possibly head on over to Beer Rev. to continue the party!

The easiest way to get to Faction from SF is to take the Ferry from the Ferry Building to Alameda. It is a 15 min ferry ride and a 20 min walk from the ferry stop.

Not a rumor. No week-end ferry service to Alameda in Jan or Feb (just checked the ferry website).

      Thanks for the update

I might bring 4 not 24...I think the " Beertroit's have an event planned there on that date...their " cornhole tourney " was a blast !
I am looking forward to exploring a new brewery...but I'm really going, as an excuse to go to the " Go" bar in Oakland afterwards..

They actually will fill other growlers as long as it's covered up completely. They filled my Hydroflask with no issues. I even asked them once they get their own growlers in would they fill it and they said yes. All their beers are verrrry good. The Winter IPA is amazing!

Good shit! This is a brewery started by rodger davis ( formerly or triple rock) and his wife Claudia ( worked at 21st amendment). Beers are uber hoppy and really good

Just opened in November. I think the brewer is some guy named Rodger who has also brewed at Drake's (Jolly Rodger) and Triple Rock. They've made a few hoppy beers so far. The Winter IPA was great

Yes, winter ale is killer. The flagship pale is even better and brewed all year

      January 9, 2014

  • Casey C.

Their beer is phenomenal, it's run by the former head brewer at Drake's. The Flagship Pale is off the charts tasty with tropical fruit juiciness (mostly due to the Mosaic hops used). Their winter ale is incredible too. Such a great addition to the Bay Area brewing scene.
