The Bay Area Craft Beer Festival

Perfect for all your East Bay BABSocialites or anyone else!!!

The Bay Area Craft Beer Festival in downtown Martinez began in 2010 to highlight the art and flavor of craft beer in Martinez and surrounding communities. BABS attended last year and the event scored a 90 for good selection of beer and location,(and the weather was warm.)

Produced by Main Street Martinez, the festival draws 1,000-2,000 people to enjoy beer from over 30 microbreweries, live music, and food from local restaurants.

The event is held at Waterfront Park on North Court St., a short walking distance from the Martinez Amtrak Station and free downtown parking.

Tickets: are $35 in advance, online or $45 at the door.

Order here http://www.bayareacraftbeerfestival.com/

Location: Historic Cannery District on the Martinez Waterfront Park, located in beautiful Downtown Martinez.

PLENTY OF FREE PARKING! (Meters do not operate on weekends)

Public Transportation: AMTRAK - Martinez Station

Best Way to get to the Festival!!! The event offers FREE Shuttles to/from North Concord BART station and Best Western John Muir Inn.

Shuttle leaves North Concord BART beginning at approximately 11 am and runs approximately every 1/2 hour.

Last Shuttle to BART and Hotel leaves Martinez at 7pm. Plenty of time after the festival to grab dinner in downtown Martinez before returning home.

Read what Yelp had to say about the event; http://www.yelp.com/biz/bay-area-craft-beer-festival-martinez

BABS Stickers: I'll have ID stickers to hand out when I arrive. These are perfect for getting to know the other Beer Social members.

Cheers,

Cliff

For what it's worth, I had a great time. I think these types of Meetup events are more about letting members know about fun happenings, not so much about meet & greet. For future festivals, it might help to contact with a few members ahead of time and coordinate a meetup spot (coffee shop, entrance, etc.). I've done that with other big events so I don't feel like a loner.

Great to meet you Monique! The camaraderie is great in these groups, helps if one can find the others, and there are easy ways to do it, but it doesn't always work out. I just felt for the people who were frustrated by the lack of connection.

I think an organized way for people to find each other, in future would be a good way to have this actually be a BABS event. For instance the organizer could wear something obvious that catches the eye, provide his number for texting his whereabouts, (and of course showing up). Otherwise it's a great event but not a meetup. I feel lucky I knew people and had a fantastic time, but feel bad other members didn't meet anyone.

Logistics getting into the event (shuttle and huge lines) sucked, but it was nice once inside. Also it was too big an event to identify other BABS members. Attending in the future would depend on finding a friend to go with.

I am here by the stage. I'm sitting on the grass

Stuck in traffic then called to discover that the line was one hour before getting in. That's bad.... And with a meeting to attend at 3 pm... The festival was a no go.

    • Michael F.

It isn't too bad. Line is less than 10 minutes if you have tix; instant at the door. You should have postponed until the eve.

Where is the pickup point at T&e station? Is there a sign or any indicator?

      April 12, 2014

    • Brett

No sign. Just wait at the bus area near the food stand. They are big school buses.

Offloaded from an out of service train at Lafayette currently. Next train in 18 minutes. Service delay confirmed.

    • Oliver E.

Guess we are on the same train, finally moving again :-).

      April 12, 2014

  • Sue

Bart site says 20 minute delays today because of track maintenance. They may even put people on other trains at Lafayette or something...

    April 12, 2014

  • Sue

Just read on the BART site about possible delays FYI. No idea if there will be. http://www.bart.gov/news/articles/2014/news20140214

Anyone get VIP passes? I missed out

    April 11, 2014

    SEE YA THERE!

    April 11, 2014

  • Cliff

Because of the size of this event, and its open air environment, there is no meeting place - except at inside the entrance, where I will be at the beginning - - to hand out tickets.

    April 11, 2014

  • Cliff

I'll be inside the entrance tomorrow to hand out BABS stickers. Stop by and pick yours up. If you see someone wear one - say hi. Cheers!

    April 11, 2014

  • Keith

Where at the event will we meet up?

    April 11, 2014

  • Rrric

Amtrak has half-price tickets if booked 3 days in advance: http://tinyurl.com/halfpricetrain
    Berk-Mtz fare - $6.50 one-way.
The Capitol Corridor is unreserved and normally any ticket is good for any train, but these tickets are sold for specific trains. Whether they would be honored for different departure times, I don't know. If that's a concern, perhaps more info is available from Amtrak.
