Sommerfest at Tourist Club

Built in 1914 the German Tourist Club is an amazing location in the heart of Muir Woods.  Three times a year they are open to the public and this Sunday is Sommerfest.  The festival will feature polka band, traditional group dances in traditional dress, a menu of traditional foods and of course, excellent beers complete a fun-filled day for all ages.

Advance tickets are now sold out.  If you get to the club early enough (around opening time at 12:30) there should still be tickets available on the door.  But there is a chance you may need to wait before getting in (there will do "one-in one-out" when it becomes too full, and you don't have a ticket).

Note there is NO ATM at the club, and it is CASH ONLY.

Parking is extremely limited. There is simply not enough parking space on the mountain to accomodate the number of guests who attend, and many attendees who have parked along Panoramic Highway have been ticketed.   I will be parking in Muir Beach and hiking to the event (the hiking part of the event is hosted on my hiking meet-up group: Golden Gate Hikers)

As with all events like this DO NOT drive if you plan on partaking of the beer at the event!

Just reviewed photos of the event but didn't see nametags. I guess this is why I could not find the group. It was a nice hike but I wish I had found you guys.

Was less than 20 short of the "sold out". Waited 2-3 hours to get sold a $20 ticket. Looked for everyone. Unfortunately, spent the next several hours standing in line (alone) for a pint, some food, and the restroom. Not sure where everyone was?

One last time ... any last-minute cancellations, call me and I'll buy your ticket. [masked]-3455. My friend bought one but they sold out before I did!

I got in touch with someone with the tourist club. We should get to the club early enough that there will still be tickets available on the door. But once they run out of space they will do "one-in one-out" so you may have to wait.

Sale of advance tickets stops on the 18th July, so be sure to buy before then.
