7th Annual East Bay Beer Social Holiday Toy Drive

As the year comes to an end and the holiday's are on our mind, it's a time of celebration and festivities and also remembering those who are less fortunate. Each Christmas, Beer Socials reaches out to the children of Oakland with it's annual toy drive to benefit the Oakland Fire Departments Random Acts of Kindness program - by providing toys for disadvantaged children.

The Oakland Firefighters Random Acts of Kindness is an in house non-profit organization staffed by firefighter volunteers. The organization distributes toys to families throughout the City of Oakland during the holidays. Toys are delivered by Oakland Fire Engines directly to the homes of the families.

Our friends at The Trappist in Oakland are again sponsoring the event with a special offer. Bring a toy for a boy or girl (ages 16 and under), and get a token for 1/2 off any beer of your choice. Once you drop off your toy you'll get your token for a beer. If you can’t make it at the times we’ve posted, please come at any time up until 3:00 PM.

The Oakland Fire Department will be on hand with their ladder truck on display to meet with their friends at Beer Socials. We'll have some appetizers and other goodies to go along with your beer. Providing an underprivileged boy or girl a gift for the holidays is a wonderful gesture, and a great way to open the holiday season.

Yes, you can climb on the ladder truck and have your picture taken with members of the Oakland Fire Department.

The Trappist is just a few blocks from the Civic Center BART station.

I hope to see you for this fun event.

This photo was taken at our 2010 Toy Drive which featured the monster ladder truck and personnel from Station 4. Captain Steve Miguel and his shift crew will be bringing out the ladder truck again this year to meet with us, celebrate the holiday's, and to collect our toy donations.

Doesn't look like I can make it. Is there someone in the city going I can give my toy to?

Please bring an "unwrapped" gift for a boy or girl (16 and under.) The Oakland Fire Department will be wrapping each gift.
