8th Annual East Bay Beer Social Holiday Toy Drive

As the year comes to an end and the holiday's are on our mind, it's a time of celebration and festivities and also remembering those who are less fortunate. Each Christmas, Bay Area Beer Socials reaches out to the children of Oakland with it's annual toy drive to benefit the Oakland Fire Departments Random Acts of Kindness program - by providing toys for disadvantaged children.

The Oakland Firefighters Random Acts of Kindness is an in house non-profit organization staffed by firefighter volunteers. The organization distributes toys to families throughout the City of Oakland during the holidays. Toys are delivered by Oakland Fire Engines directly to the homes of the families.

Our friends at The Trappist are again sponsoring the event with a special offer. Bring a toy for a boy or girl (ages 16 and under), and get a token for 1/2 off a complete sampler set of Euro style beers. If you can’t make it at the times we’ve posted, please come at any time up until 3:00 PM.

The Oakland Fire Department will be on hand with their ladder truck on display to meet with their friends at Beer Socials. We'll have some appetizers and other goodies to go along with your beer. If you like, you can climb on the ladder truck and have your picture taken with members of the Oakland Fire Department.

Providing an underprivileged boy or girl a gift for the holidays is a wonderful gesture, and a great way to open the holiday season.

Transportation: Don't drive! The Trappist is just a few blocks from the City Center BART station. If you have to drive, there's street parking.

I hope to see you for this fun event.

This photo was taken at our 2010 Toy Drive which featured the monster ladder truck and personnel from Station 4. Captain Steve Miguel and his shift crew will be bringing out the ladder truck again this year to meet with us, celebrate the holiday's, and to collect our toy donations.

Thanks for coming out everyone. We had a great haul of toys for the kids this years, many which will be going straight to the Oakland Children's Hospital. Cheers!

The Trappist holiday toy drive special is four, 6 oz servings for $9.00, (normally $18.00.) In total you'll get 24 ounces of the finest beer in the East Bay under one roof.

I'll be pouring a special complimentary Thank You beer at the event as a gift from The Trappist. This will be part of your sampler set for the event.

The fire truck will arrive between 1 - 1:30 and stay for an hour. Rain or shine - they will be there, greeting people and collecting the toys.

Special note: Used toys in good to excellent condition are welcomed.
If you bring more than one toy - you still only receive one sampler set.
