Chef @ CineArts Santana Row

Actor/Director Jon Favreau returns to independent filmmaking with this terrific unusual comedy. Peter Travers writes "Buoyed by a Latin-flavored score and Favreau's knack for improv inspiration, Chef is the perfect antidote to Hollywood junk food. Like the best meals and movies, this irresistible concoction feels good for the soul."

Showtime is 4.30pm. We'll probably be hungry afterwards so we're having dinner after the show (location TBD). Please note 'Dinner' in the comments if you'd like to join us.

This was a really nice feelgood movie - well written, directed and acted. Loved how the good and bad of social media played into it! Also, who else thinks it's an allegory on the film industry, with a director/actor known for indie films who gets pushed into making big budget movies and needs to satisfy the money making machine only to come back to what he's really good at with this movie ...

As smoothly predictable as that molten lava cake, but not quite as satisfying… :-P

Hi all, I went to see Fading Gigolo last night at Santana Row and it's pretty good (if you have not seen it). It was the last night there. I love John Tutturo and Woody Allen. Again, if I can attend tomorrow I'll update my RSVP. Trying to finagle things so I can go and meet you all. I did pick up the poster for Chef last night.

Would like to go, but the movie finishes just a little too close to my other evening plans. If I call up Santana Row, will they start the movie 15 minutes eary? :-)

    May 17, 2014

Does these mean that you're standing me up? :-) Actually, I did the math, and with 10 minutes of previews and 0 time to walk to Row parking, I would then have about 12 minutes to find parking in Downtown San Jose. Too close. Movie looks good. Have fun.

First-timer, will see "Chef" with spouse. Will do dinner too at Consuelo Mexican Bistro provided they can serve at least some dishes with zero hot spice. Tried to phone them to ask but got no answer. Re Diane's comment below, I wonder if Allen had directed "Gigolo" instead of Turturro the film would have been better.

Only in Hollywood: Guys who look like John Turturro and Jon Favreau ending up with (much younger) women who look like… Sofia Vergara! Catching another show in PA. Bon appetit!

Darn! Everytime a movie is posted that I'd like to see, something is going on. I'll see if my out of town guests would like to see this movie on Saturday. One of them is 95 years old. :)
