Hike & Potluck w/ Bay Views at China Camp State Park

  • This location is shown only to members

  • Some of what you'll see on this hike...

This will be about a 6-7 mile hike w/ an elevation gain of approx 600'. Oh and very pretty. The rating is Pretty (for good views) and Easy-Moderate (for hiking). Obviously the rating depends on your condition. For me, I expect this will be difficult  ;-)

An online 5 Star review had this to say... "Great place to: ride your bike, run, site see, critter watch, take in the natural beauty, make out!, reflect, skip rocks and get away from it all."

That's enough for me - hike, enjoy the people and scenery, sip some vino - YES!

    What To Bring:

    Vino! (and cups)

    Good Hiking Boots/shoes

    Layered clothing, hat, sunscreen

1-2 liters of cold water (1/2 fill and refrigerate, then top w/ ice in the a.m.)

Food for the potluck (sliced sandwiches, salad, meats/cheeses/crackers, wraps, chicken, dried fruit/nuts/seeds, chips, dips, salsa,  - be creative.) We're talking potluck! Sharing the meal is part of connecting w/ everyone.

Drinks, drinks, drinks! Vino, beer, tea, juice - whatever whets your whistle.

If you've been on any of my hikes you know what to expect - if you haven't, then be prepared for fun!

    $5 activity fee

Your sense of humour is an absolute must!

    Please note:

There are no wineries in the park, sooooo bring those bottles!

There will be a vino/snack break along the hike, and later we'll stop along the trail for the potluck.

    Directions:

From Highway 101 in San Rafael, exit at N. San Pedro Road and follow to China Camp.

    GPS [masked],[masked]

Plan on parking outside the park, on the side of the road by the park entry.

We will be joined by folks from other grps, so make some new friends!

After looking at Saturday's forecast I'm not real concerned. Should just be cloudy. And a little sprinkle certainly doesn't bother me. Did a hike last winter where we got drizzle and some light rain, and everyone said it added to the experience and made the hike more fun.

Hi Chas, Hmmm . . I can't think of anything specific. My place is also very small, plus I live down in Burlingame. If the Saturday weather is just . . "wet", then heck, I would just do the hike anyway. But if it is actually raining, it probably won't work.

Yeah I saw that, Matt, and I've got 30 people signed up w/ my vino grp. Any suggestions? Was thinking of a afternoon of flicks, food, and vino - if we can get someone to volunteer their place. Mine is too small.

Hi Chas, Do we have any weather options/plans? Looks like rain is predicted for Saturday.
