Full Moon Hike, Potluck & Bonfire

This is the only full moon hike I'm planning to lead this summer.

Once again the Sugarloaf State Park Rangers have given us special permission to hold this event, and I want to say how appreciative I am that they were wiling to work w/ us to make this happen.  (The park is normally closed at sunset, unless you're camping there.)

The Plan:

We'll take only some snacks and vino w/ us on the hike, then return to the cars and get out the goodies for the potluck and bonfire.

We hike under the full moon, and enjoy the moonlit landscapes of Sugarloaf at night, then return to our cars and take our supplies to the picnic area where we'll share a potluck meal, plenty of vino, have a bonfire, roast marshmallows, make s'mores, and enjoy the park at night.

Sugarloaf is beautiful under a moonlit sky.  We'll hike through meadows, and over a creek, so there will be lots to see.  The trail we'll take is wide and mostly level, and meanders back to our picnic spot.  Elevation gain is about[masked]' on this one - rating is easy/mellow/chill.

Total distance is 3 miles and the hike is rated easy, though I'm told I can't read a map nor understand anything about distances, so your guess is as good as mine!

What To Bring:

VINO (and cups)~ A hike is not complete w/out vino, so let's start there. Bring the bottle of your favourite - something nice of course!

FOOD ~ Dinner and snacks. Sky's the limit, just use your imagination. Cheeses/breads/crackers, cut up sandwiches, burritos, pizza, pasta, salads, whatever.

Flashlight, or headlamp. We want to see the trail and I don't want hikers stumbling off into the abyss.  Last month we lost a hiker to a savage man eating newt. It was bloody awful!

A Blanket might be nice at the picnic table - they make nice padding for picnickers.

Layed clothes, and decent shoes for walking/hiking.

$5 activity fee

Need I mention your sense of humour is required?

Be sure to bring your sense of adventure! Directions:

GPS [masked],[masked]

Meet at the corner of Hwy 12 and Adobe Canyon Rd.

We will carpool/caravan in from there.

At the park entry/ranger booth get an envelope to pay for parking.

Come expecting a good time (would I lead you into anything else?), bring your good attitude, along w/ your willingness to laugh and encourage others.

This hike is posted on several Meetup sites so it will be a good opportunity to make new friends.
