Hell's yeah! Another outdoor climb! This time we're going to Summit Rock in Sanborn-Skyline County Park alongside CA-35. This is near the Los Gatos area next to Castle Rock State Park.
In looking at the various areas in that region, Summit Rock seems to have the most top roping possibilities in the 5.7 - 5.9 range although there are plenty of tougher climbs. The lower tier wall tops out at 70' in height and there appears to be access to the top to setup top ropes. The wall seems pretty varied from slab to cracks to overhangs. Looks like tons of fun. Also, we will be very close to many other locations in that area if we should choose to move.
What to bring: Climbing gear (harness, shoes, etc), food, plenty of water! We'll basically be in the forest so plan accordingly. If anyone can bring additional gear (especially ropes) please indicate in the comments when you RSVP.
I am going to leave this open to all who want to come along. However, the amount of climbing will depend on additional people bringing ropes. So, I'm hoping some of you vets with ropes will be able to come along.
We'll all meet at the Summit parking lot just North of the Los Altos Gun Club at 10 am. The lot is on the East side of CA-35. The address listed for the meetup is for the gun club. We'll hit the trail for .4 miles to the wall shortly thereafter.
I will also start up a discussion in the messages section for people to discuss this meetup and/or organize car pools.
I (Brian) can be reached at[masked] on the morning of the meetup. Hopefully there will be cell reception.
