Field Trip: LABOR DAY

  • January 29, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • Fifth Avenue Cinemas

LABOR DAY opens in theatres on January 31, 2014 but we have a chance for you to be among the first in Vancouver to see it at an Advance Screening on January 29.

“LABOR DAY” centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.

We have Double Passes for, a chance to see, the Advanced Screening & Prize Packs to give away to our members.

E-mail us (use the "Contact" link in the sidebar) if you want enter our contest and we will choose winners from all entries on January 28, 2014.

The reviewer was right but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have enjoyed it. There were quibbles for me - you don't peel peaches like that, but it's easier to film and what was with all that peach/sugar mushing? The police wouldn't come into a situation like that with sirens on, but you needed it for the motivation (and that's why the cops wouldn't) Mr. Brolin is much more interesting with the beard.

The movie didn't get good reviews but I liked it. I worried about you Marina, being out in the cold.

I didn't stay out there for too long. When a few folks had called me I moved myself to the restaurant next door

I was there at 5:45 to meet you and had to disappoint the people who were going to use the tickets I had won!

Hey Cathy - you didn't call me to meet for the tickets. I included my cell # in the email I sent you!

Would have been better if I'd met up with any of the others. The movie was great.

I was there by 6:35, looked around lobby, found seat, went to washroom, looked around lobby, looked over theatre - nada. Were you in the balcony - they didn't think they were going to open it. Fun movie, mostly.

I was downstairs, left hand side corner about half way back. I waited around outside until about 6 and then went for a bite to eat next door. When we came back about 6:40 we were lined up outside

I hate to miss this, as I've been looking forward to it's release, but I have a prior commitment.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
