Sharon Butala will be reading from her writings at Historic Joy Kogawa House, 1450 West 64th Avenue, Vancouver, Friday, February 22 at 7:30-9:00pm. Admission by donation.

Space is limited; please RSVP.

She will also be doing a writing workshop on Saturday, February 23, and Sunday, February 24, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Two of her books were nominated for the Governor General's Award. Her newest book, The Girl in Saskatoon: A Meditation on Memory and Murder, (HarperCollins Canada), will be published this spring.

In 2001, she was appointed to the Order of Canada.
From the Order of Canada listing: "Her writing captures the essence of the Saskatchewan prairies and explores the lives and musings of the people who inhabit them. Author of both fiction and non-fiction, she has given an important voice to rural women and touched readers with her own spirituality and deep sense of place."
