We have a new golf league format that is truly fair for all players.  This new format gives someone who shoots 126 the same chance of winning as the player who shoots 76.

I invite you to take a look at this new format by watching this video: http://www.bcgolfpages.com/bcgolfpages_league_format.html

Leagues start April 2014 with venues and dates being posted in March.  There is no obligation to join a league and dues won’t be requested until April,

However, if I can demonstrate to the golf courses that we have dozens of members that are interested in joining then it may provide some leverage to obtain better pricing for our group.

If you are interested in joining a BCGolfPages spring and or summer golf leagues then please show your interest by signing up on this page.

Please feel free to post comments or email me if you prefer.

Cheers

Ray

Work gets in the way for Monday games. And Tuesday. And...

But at least work pays for the golf I can't get to.

Ray, I think with 96 people now showing interest, could you start this league in May, and run it for a month longer? Once you get this started, I think you'll get a steady following for the next season.

Aww man, the league format sounds great - was really hoping to get in on it for the Lower Mainland group!

    Hi,
Sorry if this is a repetition.
Which courses would be in the Vancouver golf group?
    Thanks.

Ray. what's happening with the Sunday games?

      April 6, 2014

    • Ray

Hey Alistair, I have the schedule posted here: http://www.meetup.com... (April 30th on the calendar. It looks like we will be hosting meetups instead of running leagues. Tomato, Tomotoe, we will still have a plethora of pre-booked tee times for the group.. These sunday games start May 4 at Guildford

Oops, I just looked at the time on April 1, it is 10 in the morning, sorry, I am working. Weekends and evenings work for me though.

    • Ray

Hey Gerdi , this is just a sign up page, we arte not meeting at 10 am on April 1

      March 26, 2014

  • Garry R.

Ray, I see that you have a Fraser Valley group, but I don't see anything for Lower Mainland, is this not happening at present or am I missing something.

    March 26, 2014

    • greg c

Ray is working on a Sunday league which does have Burnaby Mountain in it, so far.

      March 26, 2014

    • Ray

Hey Terry, I am working on obtaining Burnaby, Newlands, Golden Eagle and Guild ford for the Sunday League. It is still in the works and I have my fingers crossed.

      March 26, 2014

  • greg c

Ray will be announcing the MONDAY Ringer League very soon. The courses have been secured and they include Pagoda Ridge, Golden Eagle South Course, Newlands and Ledgeview. Sunday league in the lower mainland will follow.

  • Denise

Hi Ray. I would be interested in a league format, as long as we also continued some non league meetups . I wouldn't want to lose all the options we have now if we have leagues only playing certain courses.

    March 6, 2014

    • Ray

Hi Denise, you don't have to attend every league event. There is prize money for low net scores every week. and we only use your best 9 of the 12 rounds for stableford totals. I am hoping we will have 3 or 4 leagues running and dozens of pre-booked tee times posted each month that any member can attend. This will give members greater variety of courses to play and people to meet. As you know non-league members are always welcome to join our league events.

      March 14, 2014

  • Denise

Can we sign up now? Meet up sign up was not working before. I tried several times. If someone could send me the link I will sign up. Will be good to see the FV regulars again!!!

    March 6, 2014

    • Eldon W.

If you want to sign up for the Fraser Valley league, you'll have to join that meetup group and then you can sign up for the league. http://www.meetup.com...

      March 13, 2014

  • John B.

Will the league be on weekends?

    March 4, 2014

    • Ray

Hi John, I am working on securing venues but it is proving tougher than I thought. I am shooting for weekend league dates at golf courses that are close to one another but we may have to settle for courses that are spread out a bit. Hopefully I will have 4 venues secured and we will do a weekend league and a monday league at these 4 venues.

  • Bill P.

Ray am I in for the Fraser Valley league??

    March 4, 2014

    • Eldon W.

Ray set up a Fraser Valley meetup group and it looks like you joined the group, but didn't RSVP for the League yet. I only see 3 people in there right now. http://www.meetup.com...

      March 4, 2014

    • Ray

Thanks Eldon, I could not have said it better myself :) I hope you can golf this year Bill. It would be great to see you and Geri back in the group again. Take care you two.

      March 4, 2014

  • Ray

Hi everyone, I have secured four Fraser valley courses to create our first regional golf league. These four courses are: Chilliwack, Royalwood, Sandpiper and The Falls. Because all of these courses are outside the Greater Vancouver area, I have created a new Fraser Valley Chapter of the BCGolfPages Meetup Group. If these courses and schedule work for you then please sign up ASAP. We need a minimum of 12 members to form this league. http://www.meetup.com/BCGolfPages-Meetup-Group-Fraser-Valley-Chapter/

looking forward to April 1 and meeting a whole bunch of new people. see you there

    February 23, 2014

    • Ray

Hi Wayne, we are not actually meeting on April 1. April 1 was the date selected to express interest in joining a league. I will be posting several leagues for various areas so you can select a league to join

  • Enzo P.

Hey ray , a buddy recommended to joinup here, so im new to the golmeetup but look foward to coming out and playing some different courses over the spring and summer! Please keep me informed closer to the date about league! Cheers

    February 22, 2014

    • Ray

Hi Enzo, thanks for joining the group. I am working hard to create some regional leagues. I have 4 for the fraser valley but trying to co-ordinate 4 courses closer to the city is proving a little tougher. I hope to solidify our dates and venues in the next week or two.

Hello Ray and Greg. Yes, hope to get in on the summer meet up group for sure and maybe some of the spring games (depends on work!!). I like this format, get to know some of the golfers and courses a bit better. Thanks!

    February 17, 2014

    • Ray

Hey Denise, Thanks for signing up. This new format should make it fair for everyone and I like that we have cash prizes each week. I am starting to create our league schedules and I hope to see you again soon.

i like the format. will there be one league overall, or will there be a separate fraser valley league

    January 24, 2014

    • Eldon W.

Thanks Ray. I know you are working hard to come up with something that will be good for golfers as well as the courses involved. For me, with multiple leagues set up, the tough decision will be which one to be part of. Thanks again for all your work setting this up.

      January 25, 2014

    • Erin

Please don't forget about the people that don't live or want to play in Surrey all the time. Thanks Ray

      January 27, 2014

  • Terry W.

Good stuff Ray. One thing looks missing: you need to include slope calculation if we're playing from different tee boxes and using handicaps. e.g. from the Low-Net example @ Golden Eagle. My 10 handicap is actually worth 12 strokes playing from the blacks (131 slope) @ GE.North; so I should have a net 69 and be alone in 3rd place. Since it's software based, it should be pretty easy to add the different tee boxes, flag what was played, and modify the formula to gross-(round((slope/113)*hcap))=net. Just need to input the 5 or so slope ratings per course (2 women's, 2 or 3 men's). If we have any senior men's members who want to play off the red it would allow that as well.

    January 23, 2014

    • Ray

Hey Terry, I called Support and have it figured out. I had it set to use 90% of your cap for calculating handicaps and this is why you came up as a 10

Hi Ray, just played the video. I must say, you did a great job and it sounds like a fun league to be a part of! I await the March list of dates and courses but I think this is going to be the year I finally join in on the fun! Thanks for all your continued work for us BC golfers!

    January 25, 2014

    • Ray

Hi Ray. I would be interested in a league format, as long as we also continued some non league meetups . I wouldn't want to lose all the options we have now if we have leagues only playing certain courses.

    January 24, 2014

    • Ray

Hi Denise, we will still have other meetups, plus I hope to have several leagues running. As you know, non-league members are always welcome at league events. This means we should have a plethora of pre-booked tee times at various courses each week for all of our meetup group members to enjoy.

      January 24, 2014

  • Edward L.

Ray, this is a great format and it caters to all kinds of players. I can only play in the weekends or a few Mondays. I hope I can complete the number of games rquired in this league.

Hope to join Ray, thanks for setting this up, I will play if I can attend enough of the outings, are you looking at weekend or weekday or a combo of each for play days? My best chance would be on weekends, but some weekdays would be OK too. Will look forward to the site selections.

    1 · January 23, 2014

    • greg c

I can answer that, Robert. We will do a weekend league and a Monday League, in essence, 2 separate leagues. We are working out details on how we can have some playoffs between leagues. That means we can mix up the courses some too. I'd do some valley courses.

Looks good Ray. You guys have obviously put a lot of thought and planning into it and it does seem fair for everyone. I'm interested, but I guess it will depend on what courses are involved as last summer the valley courses were used and this winter, it was closer to Vancouver. I know some people drive distances now for the winter league, but it will probably be a deciding factor for many on whether to join or not.

Looks good Ray and I would be interested, except I don't want to play a lot in the valley, but we'll see what you come up with. If I can be of any assistance regarding courses etc., please let me know.

Hey Thanks for signing up Gary, I plan to book 4 courses in close proximity to one another so we will have a Langley league a Pitt meadows league etc. this should make it much easier for people.

  • Ryan T.

Just RSVP'ing as I'm interested, as long as it doesn't conflict too much with my baseball. Once the dates are set and I have both schedules, I can confirm.

Thanks Ray for everything you to do make this possible!
