Steve Jobs[masked]

From: Robert R.

Steve Jobs touched us in so many ways, and with his passing, I think it's important that we, as a community, celebrate his brilliance, celebrate that he took on gatekeepers: music, manufacturing, 3d animation, retail and never backed down.

He was an entrepreneur that changed modern culture. He made us cool.

We remember his successes and failures: the lug-able laptop, Mac Draw, Hypercard, the font wars, command period, the finder, Flash vs HTML5, the glowing apple, the sound at boot up, the first iPhone, iPad, Intel, the newton, iMac, Final Cut, the dock, Filemaker Pro, NEXT, RenderMan, and Pixar

Most importantly, we celebrate him as a visionary, he once said:

"I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something…almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose."

My mom died from pancreatic cancer, it is a death sentence once diagnosed, but Steve Jobs found a way to live longer than most. He had things to do.

The Boulder Denver Tech communities’ thank Steve Jobs for all the amazing things he has done to change our world.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

In loving memory

Steve Jobs
