I have changed the location and time for the class. This is a very good location, and other types of classes will be offered in the future. Due to increased expenses I must raise my fee to $125.00
This will be a good class for beginners and those with little experience. I have several signed up so far, and there is room for more.
The Dixie Classic Gun and Knife Show is at the Fairgrounds in Raleigh that weekend. My class will be on Saturday, January 19, and I will meet anyone who is interested at the gun show the next day. You will not be able to buy a handgun unless you have a Permit to Purchase. The CCH Permit is also a Permit to Purchase. Contrary to most of the media, THERE IS NO GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE. You will be able to shop around and examine various firearms, ammo, different carry options, and even gun safes, and make notes and compare prices. Then you will have a great deal of knowledge to make a wise purchase. I've found the prices to be fair and consistent with gun stores. All of the booths are set up by gun dealers and everything is legal and safe.
This class will follow the State approved lesson plan. Each student will be provided with the Lesson Plan Book (Red Book), and handouts expanding on the topic. I was a Criminal Justice Instructor with the N.C. Division of Prisons, as well as other duties, I and have vast experience in criminal law, and criminal behavior. The class will include how the "bad guys" think, what they look for in a target, and how to avoid conflict.
The first two to three hours will focus on use of force laws, and the new handgun laws that went into effect on December 01, 2011. You will be given a four page summery of the laws, plus access to the new Firearms Laws, and House Bill 650, also known as the Castle Doctrine.
The remainder of the class will focus on handgun safety and defensive shooting techniques. That will be continued on the at the gun show and on the range. The shooting techniques will be high stress intuative shooting taught to military personal and law enforcement officers. The class will also provide information needed to make an informed handgun selection, and concealed carry options. Bring the hand gun you plan to carry, UNLOADED IN THE CLASSROOM PLEASE. If you don't have one, you can use one of mine and pay me for the ammo. The student must be at least 21 years old, and a legal resident of North Carolina for at least 30 days.
The shooting proficiency test will be held at Eagle 1 Range. We will discuss a convienant date for the shooting test. The test is a total of 30 rounds at a man sized target, with 10 rounds each at 3, 5, &7 yards, with 21 in the target area.
Call if you have questions or want to discuss the class.
