Beyond Photoshop: Designing for the Modern Web + POTLUCK

Meetup is FREE with a $5 suggested donation at the door. Help keep WIMP awesome. Donate to our crowdfunding campaign! http://www.igg.me/at/beawimp

More details to come!  Fellow WIMP and designer extraordinaire Ben Grace will be presenting this month.

About Ben

Ben Grace is the lead designer at RM&G Advertising / Design in Santa Rosa. At RM&G, he builds strong design solutions that are closely aligned with his clients' goals. He's been in the design business for over 15 years, working with small local companies and large multi-national corporations. Much of his focus of late has been in the wine industry with branding and promotional design. He believes that there is no visual problem that cannot be overcome with a little photoshop, proper planning, communication and multiple levels of undo.

*LOCATION DETAILS*

Bring $4 if you plan to park on campus. (SRJC parking lot on Elliot Ave behind Plover Hall or the garage on Mendocino Ave are most convenient and reliable.)

We are meeting at the SRJC Campus in Santa Rosa. Rm 4638, 1st floor of the Bertolini Center. Bertolini Center is located in the front of campus at Mendocino Avenue and Elliott Avenue.

WARNING: Once you've parked and located the Bertolini Center, you can find the entrance to RM 4638 on the EAST side of the building (that is, facing Mendocino Ave). RM 4638 is NOT connected to the rest of the Bertolini Center, so it will be impossible to find if you try any other entrance. Sorry to everyone that got lost last month!

Here is a map to help you out.

I hope to share more soon, but here are some links that flesh-out in more detail some of the items I discussed last night:

I didn't talk about the Content Priority Guide (this is great and may be pretty close to what Ben Klocek has talked about)

Coming from a clients perspective, because I am considering a redesign of my own small business website, I received several suggestions, tips of info when working with a web developer. Thanks!

Very interesting perspective to me coming from a completely different part of the "front end" business. Thanks.

Always fun. A bit warm but not the meeting's fault. ;)

For all you that can't make it tonight, I'll put a write-up online with links if there's interest. I'm hoping my presentation is a catalyst for a larger talk online and off about how we work.

Sorry for the late change but I have a client's property tour that is running late. See you all next time!

I am bummed to have to change my RSVP to "no" -- this topic sounds really interesting. But I've got so much on my plate, my attention would only be half there, so I'd rather give up my place so someone on the waiting list can enjoy. I hope to join you all for another event soon, thanks for working so hard to make WIMP events valuable and enjoyable.

I'm going to have to skip this one. :-(

Sorry for the late notice; hopefully someone will be able to take my place.

I'm sure that if my mouth is full of delicious food, I will not be loud. Or at least I will not be intelligible...

"Oh there goes Randy muttering again... you can just ignore him."

Went to your last meet up -thanks for not rolling your eyes too much, guys ! I know I don't know much but I am thirsty to learn all I can.

    5 · April 5, 2014

    • Melissa G.

Happy to have you, Constance! No one in this group will ever roll eyes or look down on anyone for not knowing as much as them. That's a WIMP promise! We're all here to learn from one another. You might be surprised as to how much your fellow Wimps are willing to teach you :)
