Friday Night Games at "The Landing" at Crystal City Shops

Let's play games this Friday at the Crystal City Shops in the open area called "The Landing."  There are lots of tables and many eateries in the mall from which to choose. We'll be starting at 6 pm, but feel free to wander in whenever you'd like.

I'll bring a collection of party and board games, including Telestrations, Say Anything, Time's Up, Culture Pop, Cards Against Humanity, Shadow Hunters, Saboteur, Love Letter, Perpetual Commotion, Taboo, Bananagrams, Discworld.... Please feel free to bring anything you might like to play.  This is a fun group of non-competitive people who play everything from silly party to hard-core strategy games.  First time gamers are very welcome!  It's a
wonderful opportunity to learn some fun games with very nice people.

Parking after 4 pm is free in the garage.  Enter the garage for 1750 Crystal Drive on 18th Street and take a ticket.  (You'll need this to exit, but there's no charge).  Drive straight until you have to turn left.  Park near the elevators and take them up to Level S. "The Landing" will be the large open seating area in front of you when you exit the elevator.

If that parking garage is full, exit the garage and turn left on 18th and left again on Crystal Drive.  A second parking garage is located on Crystal Drive between 18th Street and 15th Street.

This is a link to a map of the Crystal City Shops:  http://www.thecrystalcityshops.com/  The Landing is in the yellow section on the map near the San Antonio Bar & Grill and Subway.

Did anyone accidentally pick up my copy of Monopoly Deal? It's my nephew's favorite game and we're supposed to play it Sunday evening. Please contact me and I'll make arrangements to pick it up. Thanks!

I'm bringing Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay! Anyone want in? I will pre-make some characters (if you want to make your own, show up early and I'll walk you through character generation), so all you'll have to do is sit and play! The adventure should take about two hours.

If anyone misses the 5pm chow call, I'll be getting hungry around 7/7:30, haha.

I'll bring a couple of silly games recently added to my collection:

The Really Nasty Horse Racing Game is a family game popular in England. Each player owns a horse in a race that's mostly controlled by die rolls. Each player bets on one horse in the race, but not necessarily his own; who bet on which is kept secret until the race ends. As for the "really nasty" part, well, there are cards to make horses fall, stall, throw their riders, or otherwise lose their chances to win. I haven't played it yet, but the rules are fairly simple, and I expect a full game of six races to last less than an hour. For 2-8 players.

SPAM: The Dice Game from Hormel Foods is obviously for people who love Spam as much as they love dice (Steve Jackson, I'm looking in your direction). I haven't even opened the can yet (yes, it comes in a can), but it looks ridiculous, simple, and short. For 2-4 players; net weight 12 oz. (340g), gluten-free.

Played a Game of Thrones last week and would be willing to play again this week if there is any interest?

Well, if we've got someone coming at 8:00, we might be able to recruit a few more when we get there, and we could probably get in a shorter game beforehand if there's something on hand that people know the rules for. I was going to bring 7 Wonders and Bang!, both of which can be played pretty quickly even with a number of players.

I'll be honest guys, I'm kinda of a gaming virgin (no pun intended!). I mean I've dabbled in scrabble and monopoly...who hasn't right? I look forward to learning a few new games, kicking back some cheeky drinks, and meeting all of you.

I joined the group a few months ago after a many years long hiatus from gaming. Definitely a great group of people and willing to teach.
