Let's check out Blue Pine Kitchen and Bar (NEW)

Blue Pine Kitchen and Bar has opened in the former Players Bar & Grill on Bend's west side. The self-described “gastropub" is the endeavor of Chef Matt Neltner, formerly of the Deschutes Brewery and Kokanee Café; his wife, Jill Moore Neltner; and Josh Maquet, who is also the owner of the Astro Lounge in downtown Bend.

  • 300 bottles of beer, wine & liquor
  • 19 taps (2 nitro taps)
  • Over 20 wines by the glass
  • Eclectic menu!

The menu looks amazing. With options ranging from frog's legs to heirloom popcorn, dungeness crab risotto to buffalo schnitzel; it's hard to find anything run of the mill! Great nightly cocktail deals and a very friendly and knowledgable staff ensures patrons will return.  There's no Happy hour here, but happy drink specials all-day-long.  Sides and snacks range from $2.50 t0 $13, Small plates range from $8 to $16, Large plates $18 to $28.

Service was perfect! I had the halibut and it was amazing. I agree with Tom, portions were small for the price, but I will order that dish again. I will be back there soon!

On the plus side: the food was delicious and the service was quick--the kitchen had no problem keeping up. The minus side: the "small plate" portions were a bit small for the money. Also, it was a little hard to hear everyone due to the acoustics. The long table did not afford for those of us to interact with the other end of the table. I'll go with a much smaller group next time.

I was in the area today, so I popped in there to make sure of our seating. They recommended that folks bring cash--it would speed things up when checking out. They've only got two terminals.
