Limoncello Potluck

This evening ((hopefully)) we'll be making TWO BATCHES of my Aunt Gloria Rio's Sicilian limoncello. She was a special lady, truly one of my favorite aunts. I have about a thimbles-worth left of a bottle she brought with her to Bend four years ago. As she has since then passed on, each and every time I make limoncello, I've been adding a drop of hers to the new.

Per member: $20

The $20 offsets 1 bottle of 190 proof Everclear.

Potluck/BYOB ~ please post what you are bringing so there won't be many duplicates.

If you are bringing a guest, do not add a "+1" to your rsvp. But let me know IF you are bringing a guest.

Guests are required to bring a dish to share.

Tonight's dinner: Dorothy's blueberry-lemon bars (they were incredible), Tristan's pastry, the watermelon-feta salad, olives and shrimp, and Tony's grilled chicken. Odd that the combination is not listed as part of the South Beach diet ;) Shame I didn't also stash one of Jesica's crème brulees.

Huge thanx to Tony and Kae for their efforts in kitchen cleanup. Thanx to Bonnie for the flowers--I woke up this morning to the scent of freesia. And to everyone for providing such tasty items for all to share. The limoncello is getting happy in the closet--I am just starting to smell the lemon (for the high concentrate of alcohol).

As someone else is now bringing creme brûlée and there's lots of desserts, well bring salmon

There seems to be more than enough sides… I was going to do Heather's yummy strawberry spinach salad if she wasn't, but I see someone else beat us both to it! So, I'm going with an appetizer. Drum rolllllllll……. The Fort's infamous peanut butter stuffed jalapeños. Oh yeah. You heard me right. Don't judge til you try it. Addicting. LOL

I may have to change the flavor, since the lemons are being so elusive... maybe salted caramel, or bourbon, or...

      August 6

    • Jesica (Howls with D.

My brother is going to make his signature salad with gorgonzola and candied walnuts, and the crème brulee will be chocolate bourbon flavor. Only the shrimp remains the same... :-D

The limoncello will be ready in about a month and a half. At that time, all paying members (only) will be invited back for an Italian dinner. Each of the 14 paying members will bring two bottles to fill. Bring clean (no labels) glass salad dressing-sized bottles or decorative bottles available at World Market, or "Grolsch-style bottles from Trader Joes.

I would like to bring some of my stuffed mushrooms to the potluck. I can bake them there for 15 minutes or so if there is an oven available or bake here and reheat in a microwave if not. Can you advise me? Thanks, Forrest
