Limoncello Potluck


This evening ((hopefully)) we'll be making TWO BATCHES of my Aunt Gloria Rio's Sicilian limoncello. She was a special lady, truly one of my favorite aunts. I have about a thimbles-worth left of a bottle she brought with her to Bend four years ago. As she has since then passed on, each and every time I make limoncello, I've been adding a drop of hers to the new.

Per member: $20

The $20 offsets 1 bottle of 190 proof Everclear.

    Tonight's dinner: Dorothy's blueberry-lemon bars (they were incredible), Tristan's pastry, the watermelon-feta salad, olives and shrimp, and Tony's grilled chicken. Odd that the combination is not listed as part of the South Beach diet ;) Shame I didn't also stash one of Jesica's crème brulees.

    Huge thanx to Tony and Kae for their efforts in kitchen cleanup. Thanx to Bonnie for the flowers--I woke up this morning to the scent of freesia. And to everyone for providing such tasty items for all to share. The limoncello is getting happy in the closet--I am just starting to smell the lemon (for the high concentrate of alcohol).

    There seems to be more than enough sides… I was going to do Heather's yummy strawberry spinach salad if she wasn't, but I see someone else beat us both to it! So, I'm going with an appetizer. Drum rolllllllll……. The Fort's infamous peanut butter stuffed jalapeños. Oh yeah. You heard me right. Don't judge til you try it. Addicting. LOL

    The limoncello will be ready in about a month and a half. At that time, all paying members (only) will be invited back for an Italian dinner. Each of the 14 paying members will bring two bottles to fill. Bring clean (no labels) glass salad dressing-sized bottles or decorative bottles available at World Market, or "Grolsch-style bottles from Trader Joes.
