I have danced in 3 belly dance ensembles over the past 15 years (Desert Caravan Dancers, MN; StellaLuna Tribal Belly Dance, Lebanon, TN, and Atlantis World Dance Company (AWDC), Nashville, TN. Some major health issues have prevented me from dancing the past several years, but I'm starting the process of healing and strengthening again. I don't need to be a full-time pro dancer at this stage in my life, but I adore the music, costuming, and movement...and how it transfixes me. I'm also a musician with primary interest in Turkish and North African folk/traditional music. I sing, play flutes, and some percussion and am the founding member of Nashville Oriental Music Ensemble (NOME).
More musicians interested in playing music from Eastern Europe, North African and the Middle East. Any/all instruments welcome, but regionally appropriate (voice, oud, saz, cumbus, kanoun, mizmar/zurna, darbuka, davul, riq, daf, ney, accordion) are ESPECIALLY encouraged!
My greatest desire is to help promote belly dance live music and dancing in Middle TN, and meet amazingly talented people along the way!
I'm thrilled to be part of such a talented, supportive and beautiful community! I feel blessed whenever I attend a Nashville bellydance meetup! We're very fortunate to hae these opportunities and resources here! :)
