Sat Morn Eat n Chat: Addictions or Obsessions? Porn Food Shopping Gaming Texting

Want to join the conversation?  There is a waitlist available.

Are we as a society taking less and less responsibility for our behavior and for making sound choices?

Can we all agree that behavior involving the taking of drugs and alcohol constitute addictions?

If so, what about other types of behavior now termed "addictions?"

Is there a difference between a food addiction and an "eating disorder?"

How about those who play video games for hours or days at a time as well as those who wish to view online pornography to satisfy or not to satisfy a physical need?

Countless articles have been written on the subject and a few are cited below. Feel free to read them and possibly do a little research on your own to support your view.

Every participant's opinion matters and everyone is encouraged to participate equally.  Those with a special interest in the subject or who may have special experience with friends, family or vocation are strongly encouraged to attend.

Your insights will no doubt be very valuable!

Disagreement is expected and so is civility and respect for other group members regardless of their views.

We will start around 10:45 and go until 12:30. See you all there! (pornography) (shopping) (food) (video games) (gambling) (cellphone)

No show policy: please update your RSVPs at least 24 hours in advance to allow others to attend. People who RSVP yes and don't show may be banned from the group.

I really enjoyed the conversation. Steve did a great job in facilitating. This was my first experience and I'm definitely going again.

Thanks to the medical community the word "addiction" has been abolished when it comes to drugs and alcohol. Is it no longer in fashion? The DSM-5 now calls them "use disorders." Do words that change the description of behavior have great significance? Ask George Carlin. He'll tell you that they do.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
