Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority (ACWWA) is a political subdivision formed in 1988 by an agreement between Arapahoe County, and the Arapahoe Water and Sanitation District (AWSD) for the purpose of developing water resources, systems and facilities, wastewater collection and treatment facilities for the ACWWA service area. The Authority serves an area of more than eight square miles in the southeastern Denver metropolitan area, approximately 10 miles from downtown Denver.
The Lone Tree Creek Water Reuse Facility uses state-of-the-art technology and regionalization to ensure protection of the environment and stewardship of a precious resource. It combines funding of about $30 million and cooperation from two water agencies to achieve maximum economy of scale and return on investment to ratepayers. The Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority and the Inverness Water and Sanitation District will be able to enjoy full use of their return flows for non-potable use purposes enhancing the water supply portfolio of each. This facility serves as a model for water reclamation activity and will provide exceptional service to the respective ratepayers.
