Tasting Kitchen

Join us at Tasting Kitchen, the super-hot temple of gastronomy in Venice.

Zagat scores it: Food-26, Decor-22, Service-21 with an estimated cost of $55.

Their review says:

“Everything is amazing, even down to the bread and butter” at this “cool”, upscale Venice Med that’s “packed elbow to elbow with beautiful people” tucking into “wonderful, creative” dishes elevated by “great wines” and some of “the best mixed cocktails west of the 405”; you’ll need to deal with “so-so” service, “loud” acoustics and “difficult-to-get reservations”, but even so, it’s worth “every bit of trouble”; P.S. “for those on a budget, the front room is lovely for brunch on weekends.”

A $20 deposit holds your spot and will be refunded after the meetup through amazon payments to those who attend or cancel at least 24 hours in advance. Please be mindful of our updated Rsvp policy as canceling on the same day as the meetup will remove you from the group. If your plans change you must cancel at least 24 hours in advance. Forfeited deposits will be donated to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

I've heard a lot of great things about the food at this place. Let's see if they can live up to the hype. See you there!

Just as I expected, the place was packed and bursting with energy. We were upstairs, so it was loud but we were still able to talk and I could hear about 70% of what the 2 members sitting right next to me were saying but almost none of the rest of the talk at our table of 6. My Beet, Pea and Burrata Salad (pictured) was divine. Wonderful flavor and texture and beautifully plated. It would almost make a great dessert because the beets were so wonderfully and naturally sweet. My Spaghetti Carbonara wasn't like others I've had, not as rich, but I enjoyed this one as the taste was still luxurious but not heavy, and the pasta was so round and fun in my mouth, perfectly al dente and saucy... I actually felt a little guilty and amused eating it. It was fun! No dessert for me thanks to the new limited edition Haagen-Dasz Black Cherry Amaretto Gelato in my freezer. Great company, great food. I'd like to go back sometime for brunch or dinner when there are fewer people and less noise. Grade: A-.

Thanks for the "heads up" Kay! I've requested downstairs seating and they'll try to accommodate it, though we may have to wait a bit because of limited seating for a group of 6 in that area of the restaurant. See you there!

Hi Christina, Are we sitting downstairs, or upstairs? Downstairs is really pretty even though it can get loud. Upstairs is quieter, but has no ambiance, just bunch of books (they have bookcase upstairs, kind of like a library look). I hope we are sitting in the main dining room downstairs which is airy with trees (your picture is downstairs) - it's indoor but it's like an atrium. If you don't specify where you want to sit, they will sit you where nobody wants to sit :)
