Little Dom's makes a great showing on LA Times critic Jonathan Gold's list of the Top Italian Restaurants in LA, and I just discovered that the chef is from New Orleans. Not having to fly all the way to the Crescent City to get just a little hint of Creole-Italian food, you say? I'm in! Though most of the menu looks traditional Italian there is a Fried Oyster Sandwich on their regular, everyday menu. Always a good sign. There's also a French Toast Soufflé during Sunday Brunch. I'll drive for that.
Zagat scores Little Dom's at 23 of a possible 30 on food, 21 for decor and 21 for service, and their review reads:
This “hipster heaven” in Los Feliz is “always packed” thanks to “freakin’-good” thin-crust pizzas and other Italiana offered in a “cozy, romantic” setting with a bar scene by night and a “deliciously decadent” breakfast in the morn; the setting with an attached deli is like a “flashback to 1956 Mulberry Street”, but while “service is usually solid”, some say they could lose the “attitude.”
