Bestia

Ok, deluxe diners it's high time we checked out LA's hottest Italian restaurant, Bestia. Through some kind of foodie miracle I've managed to reserve a table for 6 at the place foodies all over the city are talking about!

Zagat rates Bestia:

Food-25, Decor-23, Service-23 with an average cost of $59.

Husband-and-wife team Ori Menashe (ex Angelini Osteria) and Genevieve Gergis "are a force to be reckoned with" at this "new fave" in Downtown's Arts District, a "hot" destination for "on-point" "rustic Italian" fare from an open kitchen; "urban-trendy" digs and "cool" servers are more reasons it's "so crowded" and "deafening" – "not that you need to talk with food like this!"; P.S. "reservations are difficult."

Bestia is so in demand that they require 48 hours notice of cancelation or they'll hit my credit card. So...

A $20 deposit holds your spot and will be refunded if you cancel at least 48 HOURS in advance. Canceling on the same day as the Meetup will be considered the same as a no show and will remove you from the group. Forfeited deposits will be donated to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

The food was delicious BUT as we were being seated a staff member leaned in and whispered to me, "just so you know, we have another large group at this table at 9:30." Translation: "the clock is ticking so hurry up!" Cocktails were outstanding but very slow to arrive. The restaurant was packed and everyone from servers to the sommelier were hurried and trying to keep up. At our table , great dining companions and relaxed, pleasant conversation. We finished around 10 and only the busboy said goodbye. Food was outstanding! Don't think I'd make the trek to the scary, graffitied part of LA again to be asked to hurry through a meal before it has even begun. Great company though. Thanks guys! And did I mention the food?

Really enjoyed the food and company until I ran out of energy because of the cold. I am really sorry for leaving early. I didn't wan to cancel last minute, so I tried to hang in for as long as I could. Thank you Christina and happy holidays everyone.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
