Well, the choice is tough. Should you go to BLD for breakfast, lunch or dinner (BLD)? All three meals are a good reason to visit this modern and comfortable restaurant on Beverly Boulevard. The team behind Grace took over the space left by Opaline and Café Capo, and opened it up to the street adding large sliding windows; they moved the bar, whitened the walls, and added a retail specialty food store. The lunch and dinner menus are basically the same, making the restaurant a neighborhood gathering spot with a casual and friendly ambience. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients with the large selection of salads that includes four Caesars, albacore tuna, and a fried tofu variation with asparagus in a miso-rice wine vinaigrette. Sandwiches, made with blackened catfish, spicy Cuban pork or crispy chicken, or burgers (a generous portion of Wagyu beef or grilled turkey) with a choice of three cheeses can follow. Pastas and a soup-of-the-day are other options. Try the lemon ripple cheesecake or the banana cream pie for dessert. Breakfast, which starts at 8 a.m., presents a long list of morning treats such as waffles, pancakes, crêpes and many egg preparations. Don’t forget to ask for brioche.

“Don’t miss breakfast” – especially the “life-changing blueberry-ricotta pancakes” – at this “all-purpose” “upscale diner” on Beverly Boulevard from Neal Fraser that’s “always there when you need it” for “tasty” New American fare in the “comfort zone”; moderate tabs and a “casual” milieu “with a minimum of pretense” make it a “popular” stop.

This was my 2nd time at BLD. I had the highly regarded ricotta blueberry pancakes for the first time today. It was delicious --- much better than the pancakes at IHOP. :-)
