This Wed, NY City Council will hold a hearing on DoITT's administration of NYC's Open Data Law. The hearing will be at 250 Broadway, 16th Floor, Manhattan.
This hearing is important! This is your chance to tell NYC Council why you think the City should continue to support and develop the open data initiative and catalog.
This event will be an open meeting and the public will have two mins to present testimony.**
NOTE you can watch event this online via the NYC Council's Website - http://legistar.council.nyc.gov/webcasts/ - You'll have to select the 16th floor meeting room.
Should you plan on attending, please come 20 mins early, bring government identification, be prepared to walk though a security checkpoint, AND IF YOU ARE BRINGING TESTIMONY, HAVE 20 COPIES PRINTED!
If you do plan on presenting testimony, please leave a public comment so we can track it.
** For those of you who haven't testified before City Council, when you enter you will be given an opportunity to fill out a slip in support or against the motion at hand (T[masked]). When the Committee is ready for you, you will be asked to hand printed copies to the Sargent at Arms, and you will have TWO MINS! There will be a clock. In your introduction, include "Honorable Chairperson, I am [NAME], [Organization] and a member of BetaNYC, a Code for America Brigade for New York City, and I [status of support] the City's Open Data efforts."
